Bowmann and Trains44 had one that was in the 180's I believe.

Game 1120321 ?

Bowmann should have kept playing. He could have gotten the win. 😕

I don't think that should count. Yours is much more legitimate.

Exactly K versus K is a stalemate. Anyone who is a 2000 or even 1500 player would know that. What was the point in continuing on?

Is this a rhetorical question? It's Trains44 and Bowmann for Gods sake...

No, its not. But I agree that it was a waste of time.

Maybe they had an interesting conversation, although I must admit that's hard to imagine.

The Winner, Eat you heart out:

After checking several sources and databases, I can now safely say
that Greg Huber's 156 move win over Dale Haessel from the recent
Alberta Championship is the longest game in Canadian history!

Huber's persistence finally paid off as he escorted his pawn to
the queening square. Haessel was down to less than a minute on his
clock by move 31, and had to play 125 straight moves on nothing but
the 30 second increment.

Comment:

Thanks for doing some research on this, Micah. It's an interesting
little tidbit! I never felt like I had enough time on the clock to
really decide if there were serious winning chances or not, so all I
could do was keep making tricky moves and seeing what happens. There
were lots of positions where Dale had to choose between a few checks,
and at least one of them was bad in a not-so-obvious way that ends up
leaving him without more checks. He seemed to constantly find 'good'
checks somehow despite the short-time on his clock. Mind you, even the
few times when his checks did run out it was still unclear if/how
progress could be made, and whether pushing my h-pawn was really
accomplishing anything. I guess it worked in the end, but I'd be amazed
if it wasn't really a draw.

I felt bad when Dale had to do the bathroom-dash eventually, since I
wasn't just playing on for the bladder-exploding effects. I was
impressed that he got back to the board amazingly quickly so the game
wasn't decided by a stupid flag. I'm eventually going to run the
endgame through one of the 5-piece endgame databases move-by-move to
see how far from ideal our squishy human moves were.

Isn't OTB so much better? Wash room dash 😛 You know you like it. I forced my opponent to do that once 🙂

Check out the move 113 of this game. Trans44 who is white could have easily captured black's rook and eventually won the game. Maybe he was interested in the record and not winning the game..

If he took the rook it would have been stalemate

Replace all references to Trains44 by 'he', 'him' or similar with 'his engine' 'the mighty chess engine' or other fitting phrase.

I found the conversation with Trains, during our embarrassingly short 😳 game, to be quite pleasant. Actually he was the only person I've played thus far who was interested in chatting during the game.

Or, perhaps you were referring to the other side of the conversation....
