My nephews got me into Fight Night Round on PS2. That was another awesome fighting video game.
Edit: And Lord only knows how many quarters I pumped into Mortal Kombat 2 when it was new at the arcade.

I used to play bridge. I stopped because the people were just unbearably tense. A bridge tournament, as I remember it, is dreary hours of moving around tables and listening to people scolding their partners. In chess at least there's no one for a player to blame other than themselves. When we were done, I just wanted to lie down and die, whatever my results were.
