Yeah, most of the best players in the world have fun little diseases, OCD, varying degrees of autism ranging to insanity--going with the historical case of morphy.
Brilliance, yes, I'm not challenging that. but mentally completely without anything... no. I don't think any top tierer is.
Also, brillance doe not mean that you are incapable to function in society.
By the way, I have OCD, not a major case, but I'm not a chess champion either.
Blitz, slappy just said he had a medical condition.
Slappy, I'm not saying one of those conditions = chessmaster, I'm saying the other way around. Great Chess players with often have a condition, which is the reason for their greatness. No, I'm not saying they have to be socially inept (although often these go hand in hand) but I'm saying they will be on the autistic spectrum.
Tam I know what he said....he says akizy has medical conditions...however that does not mean he is away due to medical conditions...he could be on a long vacation..could be dead for all we know. Thus is why I am just curious as to the fact if anyone actually knows anything about where he disappeared to.
He should always be on table untill others surpass him by thier increasing rating.
I think RHP should adopt the policy that when any member achieve 2000 rating, his/her name should remain on the list (even after when he/she stop playing or get retirement etc) untill anyother member surpase him/her.
