Reading books is not all that significant. It can be handy, but some people place way too much emphasis on it.
Try to identify what you did wrong in a game, especially if it's a reoccuring theme, and focus on not doing that. You will become just a bit better. Don't beat yourself up for losing for other reasons. Once you manage to stop losing for one reason (like leaving pieces en prise) work on another reason, while still maintaining the first one...etc.

You have to grasp each thing you get from that book and apply them in games one bit at a time. Simply reading for hours will get you know where unless you are able to memorize just like that and even that would onl get you so far.
Guys, who cares if you suck SOMETIMES, I suck ALL THE TIME. I practice/study chess 4-6 hours everyday, yet I can't even keep a rating above 1500 on Yahoo, and lose to ppl who merely play the game an hour a day at most, for fun, it's totally unfair and I guess god just hates me, I never get rewarded for hard work, NEVER!
tis not about losing or winning tis about having fun.i laugh when i lose for being stoooopid to fall for whatever moves just kicked my ass,but study your own games and find out what U did wrong, not trying to find what everyone else is doing right ,and you may just not make all those silly mistakes anymore
