Wijk aan Zee has just started today and many of the best in the world (2700+) are competing. There have already been some amazing games and big upsets like with Anand and Topalov so it's definitely one to check out. It's also interesting that the openings have been extremely varied. Just today there have been Slavs, Grunfelds, KIDS, NIDS, QIDS, Ruys, Frenches and just about every Sicilian except the Najdorf. I particularly enjoyed the Dragon game in which White lost pretty quickly to an inspired attack.
You can see the games here: http://www.coruschess.com/livegames.php Chessbase also has some commentary: http://chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=4377

Very nice of Mamedyarov to resign in a not quite lost position! 😉

Excellent tournament indeed, highlights today were Radjabovs win over Anand and Aronians win over Topalov.
All dragon lovers i strongly advice you to play through Negi-Carlson
a very nice game.
Like last year chessvibes films the pressconference and the one by Magnus Carlsen analysing his win over Mamedyarov has just been put online: http://www.chessvibes.com/?p=1557&langswitch_lang=en
I will be visiting the tournament myself tomorrow.
Originally posted by zebanoOops, I just missed the start of the second one. Yes, it's audio, and yes, you need ducats (10 ducats to be able to listen to the live commentaries for 12 hours). You also need to have a serial number (it doesn't say so anywhere, so I was rather annoyed a while ago, before I had bought Fritz, when I had bought ducats and then found out that I still couldn't listen to the live commentary).
There is an audio component to that isn't there? or do I need ducats to get the full broadcast? I'm in the Wijk 2nd round Live w/ Kasimdzhanov
Originally posted by NordlysThanks for the info. I do have a serial number thankfully.
