I'm the shouty chap in the middle.
Morris dancing!??
Alrighty, let's make a chess opening to try mimic the blokes waving the handkerchiefs around.
Something like:
1.b4 b5 2.g4 g5
Someone make that an open thematic tournament and let's see who's the best morris dancing chess player on here 😀
For the losers... it's OK, they've already got their handkerchiefs...

Anyway, my two cents on the thread topic!
I recently took a few months away from OTB chess,
as my rating had dropped from the high 1800's down to 1724 in about a year.
During this poor run, I'd started doing things like:
A) spending more time than usual, not for deeper calculations but instead being distracted easier, then getting low on time
B) losing games from drawn or better positions, partially down to this loss of time and/or concentration
...and perhaps the worst one...
C) accepting draws from slightly better or even winning positions, because I couldn't be bothered to play them out
This led to me taking a break from the game,
and yes I know plenty of others who have done the same at some point or another.
The question is:- What is it that pulls us back to the bl00dy game!??
