In my old Webster's dictionary I found "Oom Paul"; this was a pet name for Paul Kruger.
"Oom" comes from the Dutch language and means Uncle.

The plural should be: Two ooms (in both languages)

Yes, ooms is plural for oom, meaning more than one uncle, in Afrikaans as well (same as my Dutch ancestors 😛)
