Doesn't count - gotta take away or insert only one letter.

I can't think of any word after zooms.

Again, doesn't count.
You took away 'm' AND inserted 'n'. You can only do either delete or insert.

Let me give it a try:

ooms

In my old Webster's dictionary I found "Oom Paul"; this was a pet name for Paul Kruger.
"Oom" comes from the Dutch language and means Uncle.
Let us imagine we had two Uncles Paul instead of one Oom Paul.
The plural should be: Two ooms (in both languages)
Jury, what is your judgement?

Well, if we don't have to use just English it will get a bit easy wouldn't it.

Yes, ooms is plural for oom, meaning more than one uncle, in Afrikaans as well (same as my Dutch ancestors 😛)
