Is no one discussing how aluminium is pronounced, though. It would be unlikely, in the english language, for the phonetic sound of 'ium' to be attached to the end of the spoken word.
True, words like cranium have it, but it is a basic syllable, whereas the other is just a bit too forced or a bit overstating a word that is being said fine without it!!

My Grandfather pointed out the word "Aluminium" is great to write in Calligraphy. It is all ups and downs with a nice flow.

In both cases, the word is pronounced exactly as it is written.

I'm British and I say "ium" at the end of Aluminium. If I'm speaking formally that is. In my normal Renfrewshire accent it comes out more like "Alu-mn-m"
