@deepthought saidI am not suggesting it probably did come from eating bats but, doesn't that depend on how well done it is?
For one thing cooking the bat will tend to kill the disease.
Some people don't cook their meat until the most central parts are heated through to a sufficiently high temperature to kill all the germs.
@humy saidI think it tends to go in stew type dishes [1], which'll tend to mean it's fairly well cooked.

The conclusion is that nobody knows, but there is reason to doubt the origin was Wuhan. There is also this:
https://asiatimes.com/2020/02/covid-19-may-be-man-made-claims-taiwan-scholar/
This video explains how China officials and government constantly lied and covered-up when the first cases of C19 occurred in its country and in fact patient zero was NOT the one they claimed but rather a much earlier one.
Obviously, their propaganda machine would to everything it can, even resorting to murder (the said mysterious so-called "disappearances" of people reporting on it fools only morons; obviously they were murdered and didn't just magically 'disappear' ), to cover-up China being the true origin of C19. If China wasn't the true origin of C19 then their propaganda machine wouldn't have a reason for doing this cover-up.
I believe most of what is said in this video is true except possibly the one part were it says C19 came from someone eating a bat; That may or may not be true but we really don't yet know because there is so far no clear evidence for this (unless China had that evidence all along and have kept it secret? That would be just wild speculation of course; but I do wonder )

"Leaked Documents From District Authorities in Wuhan Reveal Scale of Virus Data Coverup
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus, first emerged in Wuhan.
Experts who conducted statistical modeling, eyewitness accounts from locals, and documents previously provided to The Epoch Times have shown that Chinese authorities concealed the true scale of the outbreak in Wuhan and other parts of China.
The latest documents reveal how deception began at the low levels of government.
Real Numbers?
There are 13 districts in Wuhan. As Huangpi district is a residential section of Wuhan, the outbreak there should be less severe than denser parts of the city.
But in 20 classified documents from the Huangpi district health bureau, data revealed that the district alone had many patients hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms—making the publicly reported data by the Wuhan Health Commission likely false.
Every day, district health bureaus fill out a statistic form issued by the Wuhan Health Commission to report total CCP virus cases within their jurisdiction. These numbers are not disclosed to the public; Wuhan only publishes a total for the entire city.
The Epoch Times has obtained copies of those forms for dates in January and February.
The forms contain detailed information about patients who visited 22 hospitals located in Huangpi district, including the contact person and their phone numbers.
On Jan. 12, the Wuhan government did not officially report any new infections or suspected cases. At the time, China had not yet developed a diagnostic test kit for detecting the virus and official criteria for confirming infections were not transparent.
But the statistic form showed that 202 patients visited hospitals in Huangpi district on Jan. 12 after developing a fever—one of the symptoms of COVID-19.
Later in the month, the Wuhan government appeared to change its tallying method. On the bottom of the form for Jan. 29 was a newly added reminder for district governments: “The daily tally of new infections will only count patients who were treated at the 26 hospitals designated for COVID-19-only in Wuhan.”
Because there are only two such designated COVID-19 hospitals in Huangpi district, the completed forms for Huangpi only listed data from two hospitals. That means COVID-19 patients who checked into other hospitals in the district were no longer counted.
The Wuhan Health Commission officially reported 356 new infections in the city on Jan. 29.
According to the internal data, Huangpi district alone reported 150 cases that day—all patients hospitalized at the Huangpi District Chinese Medicine Hospital.
In downtown Wuhan, other COVID-19 hospitals such as Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital, Red Cross Hospital, Wuhan Union Hospital, Wuhan Tongji Hospital, and Wuchang Hospital, would likely have received more patients than in Huangpi.
Then, in the statistic form for Feb. 11, the column for new infections mysteriously disappeared. There was only a column to report the number of patients who were being treated for COVID-19 at the two designated hospitals in Huangpi.
Another document, dated March 14, showed detailed information for all confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 in the district until that date.
The Epoch Times obtained a section of this report, showing 31 names with their ID numbers and home addresses. A 33-year-old, Xu Gang, died at the Chinese Medicine Hospital on Feb. 19, and 90-year-old Peng Xihui, who died at the Mulan Hospital, had no specified date of death.
The location of death for 22 of the patients was at designated hospitals in Huangpi district and broader Wuhan. Eight of them did not list a location—meaning they likely died at a non-designated hospital or at home.
This suggests there could be more such undocumented patients who may have died of COVID-19 but were not counted in the tally because they were not checked into a designated hospital.
Medical Staff
The Huangpi district bureau also kept records of medical staff who were showing symptoms of COVID-19, from Feb. 4 to Feb. 9.
For example, the district bureau noted that three medical staff showed symptoms on Feb. 4. That day, according to the internal data, the district saw a total of 16 new infections.
The records did not say clearly whether the medical staff were diagnosed with COVID-19; by that time, authorities had already developed testing kits.
But if they were, that meant medical staff accounted for 18.75 percent (three divided by 16) of the total infections that day.
On Feb. 7, five medical staff had symptoms, making up 23.8 percent of the total (21) diagnoses that day.
Medical staff are among the most vulnerable to infection.
Li Wenliang, one of the eight whistleblowers who first publicized information about a “SARS-like” outbreak in December 2019, died of the CCP virus on Feb. 7 morning, according to state media. He was 34.
On March 3, Li’s supervisor Mei Zhongming also died of the virus, at the age of 57, while hospitalized at the Jinyintan Hospital.
Many more deaths have been reported in local media.
The family member of an individual living at the campus for the Hubei General Hospital—a residential compound for the facility’s roughly 1,500 medical staff and their relatives—previously told the Chinese language Epoch Times that more than 500 people living there have been diagnosed with the virus."

August 2019 Editorial Review.
On August 28, 2019, AllSides conducted an editorial review of The Epoch Times. An editorial review is when the AllSides editorial staff — which includes people from across the political spectrum — reviews the works of a source and comes to a general consensus on its bias. These reviews always include a diversity of individuals covering the range of bias from left to right. The team determined The Epoch Times has a Right media bias.
The AllSides team found The Epoch Times is clearly critical of ideas and policies that support open borders, the sexual revolution, abortion, and multiculturalism on its news and opinion pages. It writes favorably about freedom of speech (including online and on social media), gun rights, immigration control, and other topics.
The paper provides coverage of Democratic policies and proposals and quotes left-wingers in full in its reporting. For example, an article about 2020 presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke's comments on abortion included the politician's comments in full, not phrases or short snippets. AllSides found The Epoch Times often frames stories with right-wing viewpoints — for example, in an article detailing the Southern Poverty Law Center's lawsuit over immigrant detentions, The Epoch Times leads the story with a few paragraphs highlighting right-wing criticisms of the SPLC, without attributing the criticisms to a specific group or individual.
AllSides noted that The Epoch Times often quotes President Trump in full and with accuracy, devoting multiple paragraphs to feature his comments in their entirety. This is in stark contrast to many U.S. media outlets, which quote only small portions or phrases of the president's comments.
The Epoch Times' Self-Proclaimed Anti-Communist Bias.
The Epoch Times has a self-proclaimed anti-communist bias and stands for traditional values and awareness of virtues.
"We stand against the systematic destruction of traditional culture by destructive ideologies such as communism, which continues to harm societies around the world," according to The Epoch Times "About" page. "We are inspired in this mission by our own experience. The Epoch Times was founded in 2000 to bring honest and uncensored news to people oppressed by the lies and violence of communism. Fulfilling this mission is our passion and our greatest honor."
"Having witnessed events like Tiananmen Square and the persecution of the spiritual group Falun Gong, and at a great risk to themselves and their loved ones, a group of Chinese-Americans started publishing The Epoch Times in Chinese in May 2000 in New York City," its website reads. "Some reporters in China were jailed, and some suffered severe torture. Yet despite the risks, they could see the growing need for uncensored coverage of events in China."
Just to clarify The Epoch Times's status in the media.
@humy saidIt has been suggested that the culprit bat passed the virus to a pangolin, a small mammal prized in Asia for its meat and the claimed medicinal properties of its outer skin.
I am not suggesting it probably did come from eating bats but, doesn't that depend on how well done it is?

The post that was quoted here has been removedYes, we all already know about your hateful racist views against whites and "Western scientists". There is no need for you to keep reminding us.
What you apparently don't get is that by calling people racist that you suspect they are white when they gave no clear indication that they are racist, you are exposing your hateful racist views against white's.
Most of us here including I are against such hateful racist views, regardless of whether they are against blacks or whites (or, as in your strange case, 'western scientists' ). By showing your hateful racist views against whites (and in your case 'western scientists' ), you are showing yourself to be no better than those that show their hateful racist views against blacks; why should there be a moral difference?
I say and always have claimed that skin-color or gender or nationality or race has nothing to do with general intelligence nor morality and nobody has superiority or inferiority over another person just because of their skin-color or gender or nationality or race.
