Good news and not so good news, it is great there is a backup bunch of cells that can monitor our bodies and heart, the not so good news is a fruit fly has some 3 or 4 times as many brain cells but that brain has to handle some really complex things like flying, not running into stuff, identifying food sources and such while those 40 odd thousand human heart brain cells has only to deal with heart issues and maybe vital sign issues, like body temperature and the like.
But how much actual computation can go in with a cell count 1/4th of a fruit fly?

This was the first I had ever heard of it, reminded me of a co-processor 😀

The surprising thing scientists have found is just how powerful a single neuron is, so even a small number like in the heart, they can do interesting things working together.
