Heh heh. Newton would have found one real handy.

I have developed an allergy to lists of famous Christians being trotted out as if they proved anything...so I'll trash yours if you don't mind.

Newton's reputation is trashed--insanely jealous, didn't credit the opposition (Leibniz), fond of having people killed, and rambled on about the apocalypse (although we have to wait until 2060 until we find out for sure).

Luther was a murderer by proxy, advocating the mass slaughter of peasants.

Van Gogh? "Dumb as a painter", as the French used to say.

Haven't got any dirt on Handel...he seemed a nice enough guy.

CS Lewis was a nice guy too--but don't tell me he didn't get the idea to write fantasy from Tolkien!

Mr T is of course a hero to all.

Of course, any dirt thrown at Christian folk is true by default.

I'm being an exemplary ass this morning, for the benefit of the general public.

Of course, Christian names hauled out & put on a pedestal are liable to attract a few rotten tomatoes. Same goes for any holy cows really doesn't it?

I wonder if Newton was a true Christian. I mean, a big part of it is believing in the Trinity and he was an Anti-Trinitarian. Interesting person.

Could be he was the first Creationist. At least, he came up with the idea of the Watchmaker.

The purpose of the trotting was to challenge the post regarding a computer as possessing more intelligence than all Christians.
Those names were but a few of the world's genuises who also happened to be Christian. The status of their spiritual lives wasn't the issue.
Mr. T's gold chains could easily purchase all the intelligence anyone could ever desire.

My reference to Clive was more referring to his apologetic work, than his work in the realm now clearly dominated by some guy named Tookie.
Wait, Tookie has only sold 300 books, a tad short of the Chronicles of Narnia's totals. Never mind.

No-one ever accussed all Christians of being fools (well, I didn;t at least). I'm not entirely sure what your argument is but most of these issues have been dealt with in other threads. For example;
RadioC dating, only any good for the last 30,000 years or so. We use Strontium dating for the earths age. Multiple rocks, from multiple locations bring up the same age (4 billion years or so). Can't be a coincidence.
As with Lucy. 40%-ish of her skeleton has found. It resembled humans enough to be classified as the first known 'human'. (also footprints on an ancient shoreline line have been dated to roughyl the same time).
Where did something come from? This has been exhaustively covered in the thread 'life from a petri dish' as well as elsewhere. seek those out for answers.

I can see it now:
Q. Where did you find out the secrets to life?
A. Why, on the Spirituality Forum boards of RHP, like anyone else!
