Good works are only necessary in a society that continually breeds injustice. The greatest work a man can do is to alter that society to the point where good works are no longer necessary.

actually Romans thirteen covers it, for it is well known that the Caesar of Rome were decadent, iniquitous, licentiousness etc etc and engaged in many questionable activities, thus the first century christians had a crisis of conscience, should we pay taxes to these authorities. Paul counselled them that the authorities provide a measure of stability, execute judgement, establish law and order, so yes, pay them. If what they do with your taxes is contrary to Gods law then its them, not us who must answer, however, this subjection was relative to Gods Law, for a Christian , due to conscience cannot be made to over step these.

Rules out communes? What? What do you think Acts 2:43-47 and Acts 4:32-35 are all about? They had everything in common. They sold their lands and houses and made distribution to each as every man had need. What in the name of Jesus do you think a commune is?

yes, but they were not separate from humanity, otherwise, how could they have filled Jerusalem with their teaching. Was Christ separate from humanity, hardly!
