Has anyone ever used one?
Or has anyone ever seen anyone talk about Bible Codes on TV?

However many of the promoters of the idea actually go further and fake their data in order to get closer to the result they are looking for.
It is not much different from many of the claims that Bible prophesy is accurate. If your prophesy is vague and you allow enough variation on the interpretation (a day is a thousand years to God etc) then you can always find a match somewhere.
All coincidence should be taken as coincidence unless it can be shown that it is statistically very very improbable or unless you believe that God works through coincidence.

Well, I don't know a whole lot about "Bible codes" to be honest. Like you I have watched a little bit on TV about the matter. On the program they said they typed in the name of the prime minister of Israel and the code read assassination. They then tried to warn him but he was assassinated despite their efforts. I don't know to what degree this story is true but it made good television if nothing else.
Just for the record _//==--/===/-----/====/=/=/==//----/-==-/= 😛
Originally posted by whodeyIf he had avoided the assassination due to the warning then the prediction would have been false so warning him was a waste of time. Besides, any prime minister of Israel expects assassination attempts and would probably take the regular threats from his various enemies more seriously than some vague message in a highly manipulated version of the bible - especially considering that the prime minister is almost certainly not Christian.

Originally posted by twhiteheadAll good points. However, if what they say is true and they did uncover a code of some kind that indeed fortold of the assassination, what say you in terms of the prophetic nature of the written word? If they uncovered the assassination attempt beforhand, how is this manipulating the text to show the accuarcy of the code? On the other hand, if the code was uncovred after the fact you could claim it was manipulated. I do not know which version is the correct one and I am in no way sold out on the whole Bible code controversy, but such questions beg to be asked.
