a "stupid mistake" as one scientist put it and it is now stated that the
Shroud of Turin could be 2000 years old, what makes the scientist so
reluctant in admitting this could actually be the burial wrappings of
Jesus the Christ after His crucifixion? All the other evidence on the
cloth points to this fact. What is really the problem?
Well I for one don't see how such an image could have been made in only 3 days the biblical story gives for Jesus being in the shroud. I think it would take a lot longer than that for such an image to have been preserved. Like a month or two, when by that time there would have been putrefaction processes going on that would have had somewhat of a liquid nature. 3 days? The body would have hardly begun to decompose in that much time, not enough time for any kind of chemical signature on the cloth.

Besides, just showing it to be 2000 years old is not even close to proving it to be the shroud of Jesus.

I think the real story is Jesus was wrapped in healing ointments like Aloe, which you know good and well is in the bible, not embalming fluids like a real burial. So I think he survived and just got up 3 days later, made a few appearances for the faithful, then hightailed it out of town since if anyone knew he survived, he would not have a second chance, and then took off, most likely on the silk road where there are monasteries established at that time frame by persons unknown. I think that person unknown was Jesus.

Its just highly unlikely. Most scientists would admit that it is remotely possible.

All the other evidence on the cloth points to this fact.
No it doesn't. The evidence points to deliberate forgery. The only reason you cant seem to see that is you somehow think that it supports your religion.

So did Jesus roll away the stone by Himself and overpowered the guards or
perhaps the guards fell asleep and He tippy-toed past them before they
all woke? I suppose when the Roman soldier speared His side to make
sure He had died and the blood and water gushed out that none of the
Roman soldiers had ever seen a dead man before and mistakenly thought
Jesus was dead. That, of course, would be the logical explanation for any
scientist worth his salt. So I guess you have solved the mystery. Just
tweak it a little like Dawkins would and you might win the prize that scientist
get for solving such things. Maybe, you could throw in how Jesus traveled
to American and taught the Indians, which later resulted in the Morman
religion. I am sure that would make the Mormans very happy.

All we have are a few written "accounts" of what happened, all of which could be fabrications or at the very least, er, "embellishments". It can not even be verified that Jesus existed in the first place, although there is some historical evidence that the biblical version was modeled along the lines of a dissident preacher with a vaguely similar name who lived at that time.

People will believe anything when they're desperate. There are people right now lying on train rails in Indonesia because they think the intermittent electrical currents that course through them can cure their diabetes.

You might be correct.

The point is that Jesus having super-human strength, martial-art skills and magic "silent slippers" is just as plausible as what you believe.

My aren't we testy. The story I heard was JC was taken from the cross way before normally done, probably due to a bribe of the soldiers. So you think he had to have been placed exactly where the bible says? 2000 years ago, he could have just been taken to a safehouse.

Anyway it's said in the bible somewhere that one is to have complete faith, and that's that. Clinging to moldy rags to buttress one's faith would be viewed dimly by God and/or Jesus, I suspect — if they were even around to view things dimly, that is.

I'm sure you must be right, being a scientist yourself and practically
walking on the moon.

Yep, that's a likely possibility; no argument from me.

I forgot about all that.
