I prefer songs that I know what it is about.
Amish paradise anyone?
As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain
I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain
But that's just perfect for an Amish like me
You know, I shun fancy things like electricity
At 4:30 in the morning I'm milkin' cows
Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jaco ...[text shortened]...
Living in an Amish paradise
But you'd probably think it bites

Actually, it's the blurting and I'll-considered things you say I'm having difficulty standing by.
When someone keeps asking questions about the obvious, I begin to think they are hiding an agenda.
Go ahead, ask me what I mean.

"Carry On Wayward Son" is a rock song by the band Kansas, from the 1976 album Leftoverture. This song, along with "Dust in the Wind" were both written by Kerry Livgren and were arguably Kansas' highest charting songs ever.
Here are the lyrics:
[i]Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don' ...[text shortened]... ather than mere "searching".
What say you? Does this song resonate for you, and in what way?

What does a song about Dive have to do with anything?
All of the "wayward" souls, like the prodigal son, searching for an answer, and hopefully finding it and coming back "home".

Maybe not "to God", but to peace and some of the answers they seek.

Maybe not "to God", but to peace and some of the answers they seek.
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
There is only one path to real peace, and that path is "in Christ".
Notice how Paul states in his epistles the phrase "grace and peace". In that order. Without grace there is no peace.
The scriptures also distinguish between "peace with God" and "the peace of God". Salvation makes one at peace "with" God, but then there is the peace "of" God, which is as a result of a life lived for God in obedience to the Word of God.

Or do you see it - for this thread, anyway - being more a case of finding it difficult to control oneself and to conform to one's own standards and therefore reach one's goals?

***** Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say. *****
