@philokalia saidBut it is your “business” how they viewed “more or less” themselves in the 16th and 17th centuries?
However Spaniards view themselves now is not my business.
@philokalia saidWhy don’t you start a thread on this topic.
Would you say that there have been many great things that have come out of America over the last centuries -- things that are superior to the shady track record with native Americans?
@philokalia saidMany countries have contributed to the collective good of the world but they don’t use their achievements to somehow support a wider claim that their country is “God’s country” and is somehow specially blessed by him about other other countries. Only the religious zealot countries seem to do this, the extremists Islamic countries for example.
It would be pretty easy to argue that that is the case, and it would also be easy to argue that , while not being perfect, we have very much contributed to the collective good of the world.
@philokalia saidWhy don’t you start another separate thread on this topic.
Wouldn't you say that the United States represents the sole hegemon today, and that it was massively influential since WWII and, to lesser degrees, before that..?
@fmf saidUhhhh, "if god had a country"
Just wanting to see the opinions here on God and country? In this country, the good ole USA, many believe this is God's country and he has blessed it above all others. I live in Texas and that opinion is even stronger here. Like to hear any thoughts on this.....
That was your opening post.
What was the "hypothetical question" in it?
@galveston75 saidWhere is the "hypothetical question" in the OP?
Uhhhh, "if god had a country"
@philokalia saidIf America is truly God’s amazing blessed country, then why do you live in Korea?
Oh, so God does have a country, it's not hypothetical?
This just isn't some kind of fun idea we throw out there... There's really, truly a definitive country of God on Earth...
Lay it on us, man.

Oh, so God does have a country, it's not hypothetical?

@galveston75 saidAccording to your theology, doesn't Romans 13:1-2 mean that your God takes responsibility for establishing, instituting and putting in place every government in the world?
If god had a country, what would it be like?
@divegeester said... Did I ever say that America is exclusively God's country?
If America is truly God’s amazing blessed country, then why do you live in Korea?
Of course that is not the case.

@philokalia saidOh I see Korea is also “God’s country” now is it, how convenient for you.
... Did I ever say that America is exclusively God's country?
Of course that is not the case.
Do you feel that God should help the Koreans with their genetically impaired intelligence? [sic]
