Is the rationale based on the idea of extracting information that we have gathered but cannot access on a conscious level.

I went to Sunday School, never got flung out, I just wandered off into the long grass.

Partly. Also testing the waters.

Normally our dreams remain hidden from our waking selves, for good reason.
