Not explicitly. However, although they may not be able to fly, they are "winged birds" (one wonders what other kinds of birds there are) so I think they are catered for.

The flaw in this argument is that the popularity of an idea has absolutely no bearing on its validity.
If it did, then the Earth would have made itself the center of the universe for most of history to accommodate people's popular belief.
