One thing I wanted to add.
In your hypothesis you have assumed that the 'decline' we enter is acute and permanent.
You have also stipulated that we must remain recognisably human.
Now some humans experience this in real life. Others don't. Some:

2. Get depressed and/or suicidal, but then are able to re ...[text shortened]... ot even discussing eternity, though in this case I don't think anything significant hangs on it.
This includes the preceding few posts, both mine and twhiteheads
Interested to hear why you think length of time existing must always imply a permanent and inevitable decline into madness.

And I know if I'll only be true

That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

Assuming we are talking about a human mind [regardless of the substrait it's running in/on]...
My position is thus...
A long enough period of torture will result in irreversible madness from which recovery of the
original mind is no longer possible, due to non-reversible changes to the minds make-up.
In any sufficiently long finite period of time the probability of mere existence becoming torture
due to repetitive monotony [if nothing else] approaches 1 [and essentially becomes 1 for infinite
periods of time].
Thus in any sufficiently long period of time a human being will go insane.
It gets worse for Christian descriptions of 'heaven' as they frequently talk about things that would
be torture right from the get go [like permanently having to suck up to a god that can read your thoughts].
But I still hold that no existence can be withstood for an infinity of time unless you can prove that
the probability of going insane in any finite period of time is always 0. Or that insanity once achieved
is not permanent [I suggest evidence to the contrary].

On what basis do you believe that such a thing as irreversible madness exists?

I still assert that repetitive monotony is not a concern unless you have perfect recall (which would require and infinite brain as well as eternal life).
But I still hold that no existence can be withstood for an infinity of time unless you can prove that

All you actually need is to posit a scenario specifically designed to ensure it doesn't happen. No probability calculations required.
Or that insanity once achieved is not permanent [I suggest evidence to the contrary].
No evidence is required given the you have no evidence to the contrary. You may be right that permanent insanity exists, buy you could just as likely be wrong. And if a god exists I am sure it would have a cure for insanity.
