Ladies and gentleman, King Saul put all of the witches OUT of Israel. He had to have been zealous to get rid of them because of the law of God.
King Saul was pathetically at enmity with God. So much so that even a witch had to put her arm around him and comfort him.
Can you imagine that? He became so pitiful in rebellion that even the witch felt sor ...[text shortened]... born and rebellious to walk with God anyway.
"Lord may I never fall into that pitiful state."
Obedience to God's commands is what gets a person right with God.
But you call that legalistic.
