these are core liberal values. all go against the grain of modern christian conservatism.
Or maybe just people who care beyond their own selfish needs.
Originally posted by SuzianneHere is the dirty little secrete Suzianne, you CAN"T label all conservatives and liberals as polar opposites when it comes to the poor. Case in point is the recently deceased Hitchins. He railed against Mother Teresa for the way she helped care for those in need while advocating for socialism and doing NOTHING of significance to help the poor himself. It was almost as if he was begging government to force him to give to those in need because he did not have the gonades to do it himself.
The problem is that conservatives don't want to see the people in need, and they will take great steps to keep from seeing them, from denying them simple social services to deporting them, all in the name of keeping their beloved tax breaks.
I see people in need every single day. I see and talk to people with nothing every day. And I mean *nothing* to their name. There is NO reason why anyone in America needs to go hungry. None at all.
I created a thread a little while back comparing those who practice their faith and those who do not. Overwhemingly, those of faith on average are more likely to help those in need than those who do not, whether it comes to donating their time or money. I even provided a few articles showing the statistics on such things, instead of a broad sweeping generalization that is backed by nothing.

My point here is that it rebooted. Now government has seen to it that it will be destroyed altogether.
So what replacement do you forsee?
what will it be replaced with? anybody's guess. maybe it'll just be a cold-reboot of capitalism starting from zero.
people don't learn from their mistakes when greed is involved.
as for the immediate outlook for the near future, expect another patch. the lizards have gathered in davos to decide our fate.
