The innuendo of your question is that Witness Lee or the co-workers who know of his history in that regard are liars.

Maybe you are accustomed to sensational testimonials and exaggerations. The website of the thousands of little figurines of supposed dinosaur figures made by Meso Americans seemed to fit that bill - exaggeration, fanciful fiction, self-serving fabrications, delusional false advertizing.

That's what you offered here for serious consideration in a discussion. Maybe you think everybody makes up things in the Christian life like this.

IE. "I'm suscpicious. Is this just on his word ?"

There was no need for Brother Witness Lee to make up sensational things to impress anyone. The fruit of such a life consecrated to Christ speaks for itself. Extra fabricated fictional exaggerations were not necessary.

In 1949, Witness Lee was sent by Watchman Nee and his other co-workers to Taiwan to insure that the things delivered to them by the Lord would not be lost. Watchman Nee instructed Witness Lee to continue the former's publishing operation abroad as the Taiwan Gospel Bookroom, which has been publicly recognized as the publisher of Watchman Nee's works outside China. Witness Lee's work in Taiwan manifested the Lord's abundant blessing. From a mere 350 believers, newly fled from the mainland, the churches in Taiwan grew to 20,000 in five years.

Witness Lee's ministry emphasizes the experience of Christ as life and the practical oneness of the believers as the Body of Christ. Stressing the importance of attending to both these matters, he led the churches under his care to grow in Christian life and function. He was unbending in his conviction that God's goal is not narrow sectarianism but the Body of Christ. In time, believers began to meet simply as the church in their localities in response to this conviction. These local churches were soon established throughout all the Western hemisphere. In recent years a number of new churches have been raised up in Russia and in many eastern European countries.

As a result of the collaboration of these two faithful servants to minister Christ for the building of His Body, by 1949, 400 local churches were built up in China. In 1949, due to the incursion of Communism, Watchman Nee wisely sent Witness Lee to Taiwan to carry on the building work according to the divine revelation they had received, while Watchman Nee remained in China, where he was eventually martyred for the Lord. Through Witness Lee's diligent labor and unceasing ministry of the Word, within five to six years there were over 40,000 believers meeting in numerous local churches throughout Taiwan

n addition to the above-mentioned ministry to the Lord's children, Witness Lee traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and the world to preach the gospel and shepherd the believers. As a result of the ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, thousands of people have been saved and over 2,000 churches have been raised up worldwide in over 65 nations. The Lord greatly blessed their ministries with the increase and growth of churches worldwide, primarily due to the fact that both men cared more for life than for work. This fruit of their labor is the visible overflow of the resurrected life of Christ, whom they lived and ministered to others.

When I was arrested by the Japanese, they harassed me for a number of days. I was beaten, punished, and interrogated under torture in the prison. Outwardly it was truly difficult, yet at the same time inwardly I touched the Lord's presence in resurrection. Outwardly, like Jesus the Nazarene, I was tortured, but inwardly I enjoyed the Christ who is in resurrection, in glory, and in the Spirit, as typified by Solomon. In the future, when our Solomon comes back, we will be His Shulammite in His glory. Today in our spiritual experience, we can have a foretaste of that day and of the condition of that day.

Two or three weeks later, as usual, I went to the meeting hall before eight in the morning to take care of some things. As soon as I stepped into the meeting hall, there came two men dressed in blue Chinese long gowns. Right away I knew that one of them was Japanese and the other was a Chinese traitor as the interpreter. The Japanese officer said, “Mr. Lee, please excuse us. We are here to visit you.” I welcomed them into the room which I used to pray and read the Bible. I had the Lord's leading within and gave him a pocket-sized Bible. In the end he told me, “I apologize, Mr. Lee, but we have to ask you to come to our headquarters. We have a few matters to discuss with you.” I was then brought to the military police headquarters.

After I got there, they told me that they were very busy, and they asked me to be seated. I waited past lunchtime and dinnertime and was detained until nine or ten in the evening. Then they told me that it was late and that I should sleep overnight there and wait for the next day. At that time they did not put me in a prison cell right away but let me sleep on a bed belonging to a military policeman. That night I dreamed again: The German shepherd ran around me, harassing me, but because of the previous dream, I knew that it could not harm me. The next morning they brought me to the interrogation chamber where there were cold water and wooden boards. They made me lie on a wooden board, and then they poured cold water on me, into my mouth and nostrils and all over my body. Afterward, they gave me someone's name and asked if I knew that person. That person was a brother among us who had gone to Chungking from the inland a few months ago. They asked me where he was hiding. I said that I did not know. Then they asked me how he got there. I told them the church wrote a letter of recommendation for him. While they were interrogating me, I was looking to the Lord. For anything in which I could not reveal the truth, I would ask the Lord, “O Lord, do not let them ask me about it,” and they truly did not ask at all. Whatever they asked, I was able to answer calmly and truthfully.

After the interrogation, they let me rest and then dragged me to the prison cell. Then they went to my house and the meeting hall to find the responsible ones to verify the statements I gave under interrogation. I was tortured in this way for more than three weeks. One night I had another dream. I dreamed that I was in a brother's home in my neighborhood, and a puppy crawled out of a dog hole, wagging its tail at me and running toward me. When I woke up I felt very happy and peaceful, because I knew that the Japanese military police were coming to me to “wag their tails” and send me home. At that time they interrogated me twice a day, for close to two or three hours each time. The next day, instead of interrogating they said to me, “Mr. Lee, we are young and impetuous. Please excuse us for any lack of respect.” They wanted to escort me home, but they had to wait until the evening, so they treated me to a meal. The more they chattered, the more I felt they were like puppies wagging their tails.

The many years of my speaking for the Lord in serving Him may be divided into several periods. Before 1943 the emphasis of my messages leaned heavily on the truth. I spoke on many truths, such as God’s selection, predestination, sanctification, and justification. Forty-two of the sixty topics in the book entitled Basic Truths in the Bible were written by me in 1943; in the previous year I had spoken on these forty-two topics, resulting in a great revival. When the revival came, I began to suffer persecutions. First, the Japanese put me into prison and tortured me for a month before releasing me. Due to this kind of treatment, after I got out of prison, I became ill with tuberculosis, and I rested in bed for half a year according to my doctor’s charge. At the time of my release the Japanese would not let me go but still required me to report all my movements subsequent to the release. But then when I became sick with tuberculosis, they relented and let me go. After a year my health improved a bit, and I then escaped to Chingtao to rest there for another year and a half until my health was recovered.

During the period of my recuperation, the Lord shined on me, showing me that although my preaching from 1932 to 1942 resulted in a great revival, there was a great shortage of life in my messages. There was much truth but too little life. At that time the Lord showed me the tree of life and that this line runs through the entire Bible. The Bible begins with the tree of life and also ends with the tree of life.

After seeing Kent Hovind's income tax video, I can understand why he got in trouble with the IRS and the Federal government. He brought it on himself by not understanding and obeying Jesus on this subject:

And Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they were amazed at Him.

(Mark 12:17 NASB)

Kent Hovind failed to be amazed. However, I still believe the punishment by the government is extreme, but it may be so extreme in order to discourage others from trying to do the same.

Al Sharpton is reported to owe over a million dollars to the IRS, yet there is no attempt by the federal government to prosecute him. Could that have something to do with the fact he is a friend and supporter of President Obama? It seems that another double standard is being applied here.

Mr. Sharpton has regularly sidestepped the sorts of obligations most people see as inevitable, like taxes, rent and other bills. Records reviewed by The New York Times show more than $4.5 million in current state and federal tax liens against him and his for-profit businesses.

And though he said in recent interviews that he was paying both down, his balance with the state, at least, has actually grown in recent years. His National Action Network appears to have been sustained for years by not paying federal payroll taxes on its employees.

With the tax liability outstanding, Mr. Sharpton traveled first class and collected a sizable salary, the kind of practice by nonprofit groups that the United States Treasury’s inspector general for tax administration recently characterized as “abusive,” or “potentially criminal” if the failure to turn over or collect taxes is willful.

Mr. Sharpton and the National Action Network have repeatedly failed to pay travel agencies, hotels and landlords. He has leaned on the generosity of friends and sometimes even the organization, intermingling its finances with his own to cover his daughters’ private school tuition.

IRS Confiscating Bank Accounts of Small Business Owners Without Evidence of a Crime

The Internal Revenue Service, still embroiled in controversy over the inappropriate targeting of conservative groups under the leadership of Lois Lerner, is abusing agency rules that allow for the confiscation of bank accounts without evidence of a crime, taking the concept of "guilty until proven innocent" to a whole new extreme by failing to distinguish lawful small business owners from money launderers and illegal drug operations.

The majority of people targeted by the IRS unfairly give up, which is exactly why this abuse of power and government overreach is unacceptable. It is impossible to fight back against the most powerful agency that exists within the federal government. With one confiscation, the IRS destroys the lives of productive, law abiding, middle-class American citizens. The worst part? The IRS has made this a habit.

For almost 40 years, Carole Hinders has dished out Mexican specialties at her modest cash-only restaurant. For just as long, she deposited the earnings at a small bank branch a block away — until last year, when two tax agents knocked on her door and informed her that they had seized her checking account, almost $33,000.

The Internal Revenue Service agents did not accuse Ms. Hinders of money laundering or cheating on her taxes — in fact, she has not been charged with any crime. Instead, the money was seized solely because she had deposited less than $10,000 at a time, which they viewed as an attempt to avoid triggering a required government report.

Ms. Hinders has still yet to be charged with any crime, but has gone into debt while attempting to get the money returned. And she’s not the only one they turned up. The IRS used this tactic 639 in 2012 alone, with only 20% of those cases ever being prosecuted.

Judge Rules Defendant Guilty of Structuring; No Connection to Criminal Activity Alleged

In a key decision, a defendant went to trial after pleading not guilty to two counts of structuring. Notably, in this case, prosecutors did not bring money laundering charges against the defendant because there was no indication that the structured currency resulted from any illegal activity. However, the case underscores that structuring is a crime, that prosecutors will file charges on those who attempt to evade reporting requirements, and that a guilty conviction is possible even without a direct link to any other criminal activity.

http://www.fincen.gov/law_enforcement/ss/html/Issue17-story4.html

It seems appropriate that the crime of structuring is also sometimes called smurfing. Generally speaking, structuring is the act of breaking up financial transactions to get around the federal reporting requirements that kick in for transactions over a specific amount of money.

Most structuring cases stem from a 1970 law called the Bank Secrecy Act, which requires banks to report any deposits, withdrawals, or transfers of more than $10,000. The law has since been revised several times, but generally it’s intended to make it easier for the government to track tax cheats, money launderers, illegal gambling operations and other criminal enterprises.

But the Bank Secrecy Act also requires banks to report to the federal government any activity from customers that might be construed as structuring deposits to avoid the reporting requirement. So if you have $100,000 to deposit in your bank account, and you deliberately choose to deposit that money in increments of $9,999 so your bank won’t automatically notify the federal government, you’re guilty of structuring. It’s a felony punishable by a fine and/or up to five years in prison.

The problem of course is that when you force banks to cast such a wide net, they’re going to report a lot of people who have done nothing wrong. And some of those people are going to find themselves in legal trouble. A top bartender who makes, say, $2,000-$2,500 per week in tips might make regular monthly deposits of over $9,000, but less than $10,000. It isn’t illegal to deposit $9,500 in your bank account. It’s only illegal if you’re doing so because you don’t want your bank to report the deposit to the government. That’s a pretty thin line between an innocuous activity and a felony.

Keep in mind, it doesn’t matter if you’ve earned all of your money legitimately. It doesn’t matter if you’ve dutifully reported all of that money at tax time, and paid the government every penny required of you under the law. If you knew about the reporting requirement, and you deliberately deposited less than $10,000 in order to avoid it, you’re guilty of a federal felony. And thanks to asset forfeiture, the government can then move to seize everything in your account. And possibly more.
