I'm suggesting that your pastor's reference to the wind is merely theatrics.

I'm suggesting that your pastor's reference to the wind is merely theatrics.

So if I give you a detailed account of my story, will it not simply be thearetics?

I said that I would consider if you are ready to hear my story when you got back to me with your comments on the pamphlet.

The way you have responded brings me to the conclusion that my story will be totally wasted on you.

What difference would it make if you call me a welcher before or after my story?

Either way, if you feel I made a bargain with you, then I'll give you my story in any case. Before tonight.

Well done dj, that's precisely the word to describe what you do--misusing theory to enhance your clown act. Thearetics, indeed. You'll outsell L. Ron Hubbard.

That's not the original agreement dj, your post:

Note the word 'that', not 'if' was the terms of the agreement. I have read the pamphlet and offered my views on it. I wish to hear your story because I wish to know how it is that you actually came to know god, if you cannot witness from a personal point of view, perhaps there is something you are ashamed or embarassed about in terms of your belief. If there is not, why would you withhold such a tale? Isn't your aim to encourage a belief in god? And what can be better to the godless than a personal experience from which to draw on?

Starrman:

My story actually starts with my parents.

My father was the only son of a wealthy farmer. He was spoiled, had everything he wanted and was to inherit the farm one day. Yet none of this could ever satisfy him.

Although they regularly went to church, my grandfather didn't believe that the Bible was the Word of God and told my father it was a book with Jewish stories.

From a young age, however, my father would often look up at the stars at night and have a longing for God in his heart. He would cry out to God and ask Him to reveal Himself to him. One of the things he regularly asked God, was to choose a wife for him.

When he was about 14 years old, my father accepted Christ as his Saviour. Yet, he was still enslaved by sin.

My mom grew up in a religious home. Her grandmother always prayed for her. Her father, though, was an alcoholic. Although she was bound by sin, my mom from a young age had the desire to live for God, even though she didn't have a personal relationship with Him, either.

When she was a teenager, she one day went on her knees and started weeping. She cried to God, and pleaded with Him to one day give her a God-fearing husband together with whom she could serve Him.

When my mom and dad eventually met one another a few years later, the first thing they talked about when they started speaking to one another, was God. They realized that they both desired to know Him. They knew that they were created for one another and that it was God's will for them to get married. This all happened the first time they were alone. [It was a week after they had met for the first time]. They got married a few months later.

After their wedding, they seriously started seeking God. They went to many different churches, but were disappointed when they saw the carnal, hypocritical lives of the Christians. They themselves could not overcome sin, either. They could never find victory over the sins in their lives.

When my eldest brother was six and my sister four years old, they felt God calling them to full time service to Him.

My father gave up his inheritance and went to study to become a pastor. He and my mom continued to go to different churches in order to get to know God better. All this didn't help them to overcome sin in their personal lives.

Then they visited the mission station [where we stay now] for two weeks.
When my parents came here, they realized for the first time that they have to confess their sin openly with true remorse and a broken heart. They were convicted of their sins when they heard the preaching of God's word. They then went to a counselor and confessed all their sins, especially the occult sins, starting from the time they were very small. They also acknowledged the sins of their forefathers.

[Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.]

[It is interesting to note that a certain Satanist came to the same Mission some time later and was set free from the powers of darkness when he openly confessed all his sin to a righteous man. He said that as a Satanist he was allowed to attend any Christian Church and even become a member as long as the church did not preach confession of sin]

For the first time they realized that they had to actively resist sin and overcome Satan daily.

A few months later they felt God calling them to come and work here full-time.

My parents have been staying here since July 1980, serving God as full-time Missionaries.

Since that time, God has given them victory in many areas.

For example, my father suffered from a vicious temper. Even his father and grandfather were known for their outbursts of anger. While he was still a farmer before they were called into the ministry, he would get angry with the black laborers on the farm, fisting and kicking them when they came late for work.

After he had come to the Mission in 1980 and confessed his sins, he went back to the farm and called all the laborers together. Crying tears, he publicly acknowledged his sins and apologized to them for the way he had treated them. Many of them were touched deeply and started seeking God.

In the twenty years that I know my father, I have never seen him angry.

My mother had suffered from severe depression for many years. Nobody could help her. After they had been on the Mission for a period of time, she one day cried to God in desperation, pleading with Him to make her a real Christian. She acknowledged that, in her own strength, she was not able to save herself or serve Him.

God revealed to her the spiritual weapons of prayer, rejoicing, etc. and taught her to use His Word as a weapon against Satan in all circumstances.

Before she was an extremely negative, depressed person. Now she is totally the opposite. She is always optimistic, trusting God in all circumstances.

Over the years my parents have each developed a personal relationship with God. They have learned how to use spiritual weapons. They walk with Him daily, and go to Him with all their problems and needs.

God has done many miracles for us as a family. If my parents have to share it all, they will need many days to tell about God's mercy and provision.

A few years after my parents came here, my brother and I were born. We are about 18 months apart and I am the youngest in the family.

As any child, being born in such circumstances did not make me a saint. I was born in sin as every other human being. I also had a bad temper. But I was convicted at a young age and confessed it. Since that time I have never struggled with a temper again.

When I was seven years old, I had to go for an operation to have my tonsils removed. My dad was rather concerned, because his brother died from excessive bleeding when he had his tonsils removed at the age of 5. (My father had not been born at that time.) I suppose our family had some “bleeding genes.”

And so it was, that eventually I did go for the operation. And guess what? Even after the wound had multiple stitches the bleeding wouldn't stop. My parents were both there on their knees pleading to God to spare my life. My parents also phoned the pastor and asked him to pray. Eventually the Doctor said that there was nothing else he could do for me. After a while the bleeding just suddenly stopped. God had spared my life. The doctors were left in amazement. They had no scientific explanation for what had happened. But my parents and I later knew whom we had to thank.

But as any kid I also grew up and became a teenager, and I was exposed to all the lusts of the flesh. At the age of 12 I decided to abstain from sex till the day God gives me a wife. I joined the organisation, “True Love Waits,” (www.truelovewaits.org.za) and I have been going to many schools on TLW campaigns to challenge young people to abstain from sex till the day of marriage. In the last few years more than 320 000 young people have signed the TLW pledge card.

I can truly say that only God has helped me to keep this promise in a world that propagates sexual promiscuity.

It was only more recently that God showed me that true purity goes far deeper than I could imagine. I used to be have bad sexual thoughts and I would always feel guilty and convicted about it. I could not get victory over this. I would confess it and then fall back into deeper sin. I started looking at porn and eventually I started masturbating.

Whenever I had done this terrible sin I would feel so empty inside. The guilt just would not leave me. Eventually I even started to rebel against God. I started making excuses why this was not a sin. Eventually I even started
doubting God's word and started believing arguments that Satan brought where I started doubting God's existence.

This went on for some time and I thought that I was happy, but comes night time when I am alone and I felt like the loneliest and most unhappy person on the face of the earth.

But finally God got through to me and I realized that I was a sinner and on my way to hell. I cried out to him during this time and asked God that if He were real, that he would deliver me from this sin and give me back the lasting joy that only He could give.

I was able to talk to my counselor about the things that troubled me and he prayed with me. But after a week I'd fall back into the same sin.

This procedure continued for some time, in which I would confess my sin but had no victory.

I then realized that a man's morality will dictate his theology.

I became aware that I was questioning the truth of the Bible because of my own unwillingness to change my life and give up my sinful habits.

But finally I realized that I had not given my whole life to God. There were still parts that I was keeping for myself.
e
Finally I did what I knew I had to do all along. I surrendered my entire life to God as is written in Romans 12.

Since that time my life was radically changed. I started getting victory over all the sins in my life. I could go into detail about lots of other sins, but I think I did mention them in a previous post.

I also got a clear conscience with a pure heart and mind which gives me a joy and peace which is indescribable.

I will not exchange the joy and the peace that I have now for anything else in the world. The joy that I get when I obey the soft voice of God that speaks in my heart does not compare with any of the fleeting pleasures of sin.

Whenever Satan comes to me with any temptation I am able to resist Him by quoting the word of God.

Nothing like a good fisting to underscore the importance of punctuality.

That just proves that there have never been any true believers in the FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER. 😏
