Sorry about that.

Anyway, assuming death is simply the ceasing to exist, a popular atheist view...

both are eternal oneness with the universe...loss of ego...loss of desire...loss of suffering...

Is death the Nirvana so many seek in life through meditation?

EDIT - Is it possible that whatever material "code" that makes an experience yours - the existence of your "ego" which can perceive and is self aware but in another body - can come to evolve again, leading to an afterlife, but one not designed - another one, like this one, that evolved? A sort of alien reincarnation?

Edit - meditation might lead to anything but in principle will often enable one to calm down and recognise the here - and - now.

Probably not

No, isn't Nirvana the ecstasy of inner peace? If not, why not?

Nirvana -the cessation of suffering- is a condition beyond dualism. When you understand, reality depends on you. When you do not understand, you depend on reality. You do not have to use your mind in order to spot the reality, you don’t have to use reality in order to spot your mind; and your mind does not give birth to the reality whilst the reality does not give birth to your mind. The calmness of the reality and of the mind is samadhi, and in this condition one can see the phenomena and at the same time remain unperturbed.

The Hinayana/ Theravada meditators consider nirvana the ultimate target, however nirvana and its opposite, samsara, should be seen as a specific dualist level that has to be grasped exactly as it is and then be surpassed. And the mediator has to elevate beyond the bounds of nirvana and samsara. This is the reason why it is said that “…once you hold your thoughts free of the delusion during the condition of life you will see nirvana, and during the condition of death you will feel secured in the state of the cessation of the rebirths”. Therefore, when the delusion is absent the mind becomes “the land of the Buddhas”. When the delusions are present the mind is hell. The mortals tend to create delusions, and since they do it by means of using their mind they are always trapped in hell. Once you penetrate the delusional world you do not use your mind in order to give birth to your mind and you remain in the land of the Buddhas. When you do not use your mind in order to create your mind every state of the mind is empty and every thought stands still. This way you are moving from a specific land of Buddha to another land of Buddha -and “land of Buddha” is a level of existence that thanks to the presence of a Buddha it became pure, thus free of delusions and impurities.

The condition that follows is a specific level of the Way, at which your mind reaches nirvana -but you cannot see nirvana because nirvana is mind. If you see nirvana somewhere out of the mind, you are delusional. The lower level of nirvana is satori

Good post, as usual.

But why not just accept and enjoy "samsara"?

Samsara is enjoyed to the hilt once one sees the phenomena and at the same time remains unperturbed😵

Is that nirvana? Or samadhi? Are they the same?
