I had the exact same thought yesterday but didn't consider it all that important to actually find out. It rarely turns out to be worth the effort.

I like to think there are a lot of 'gods' out there (and in here) , but no overriding figurehead.

I dunno. I think it can get better ... it might take a few more bad decisions but when the fate of the world becomes our main concern, humans will find they have inteliigent solutions to current problems.
