There are two things which shut the mouth of the liar.

The blood of Christ.
The building up in love into the Body of Christ.

When I touch the unity of the church I know I have touched the truth.

The problem is not with the 'Truth' there will be a 'Truth' it is our ability to 'know' 'there's the rub'

This might wash with fellow believers, but it sounds like codswallop to me. Where is this magical Jesus-blood which magically stops people from lying? And as for the other thing... ha! Please excuse my incredulous laughter. Unity of the church? Which particular schism of the 'church' are you referring to?

Where did I say the blood of Jesus stops people from lying ?

The mention of "shuts the mouth of the liar" is an expression refering to the spiritual and psychological effect of accusation.

I do not mean the physical mouth of someone is shut. I mean primarily that Devil's accusation against the conscience of man becomes completely nullified. Effectively, the accuser of the sinner is destroyed because the believer has "peace toward God" .

That peace towards God because of justification before God is our "atomic weapon" in the age old spiritual warfare. We can go on to grow in the divine life and fulfill God's eternal purpose.

Now you have yourself a good long laugh. Laugh harder. You roll across your floor and laugh and laugh and laugh as hard as you possibly can.

But when you come before God and you do not have the blood of Jesus, all you will have is your sense of humor. And as God plays back the recording of your life in infallible accuracy, your sins will come back to you like a re-runs - every idle word, every action. Nothing will be missing. Nothing will be exaggerated. God's record of your life is thoroughly infallible.

If you are without the redemption of Christ this will be no laughing matter to you. This is not a threat. This is a mere sober warning. Justification before God through the redemption of Christ is a matter very important.

Cheer up now. Christ's redemption can cause you to be before God as if you never sinned at all. And you can have peace towards God.

"Cheer up now."

Don't worry mate, I'm still laughing. And I'm not in the slightest bit concerned about your mediaeval boogeyman idea of a god. You should be more worried yourself - you don't obey all of the instructions in your scripture, do you? How do you know that the bits you ignore aren't more important than you think eh?
