I always thought we should be able to see who gives us a thumbs up or down. I wanted to suggest this in the site idea's forum, but I'd probably get a thumbs down. And won't know who gave it.

When your cheque arrives, i will also feel much better.
(This is the pun-chline to a shaggy dog story which starts out: there are suits of armor in an old castle, ... the Russian is hiding in the Black Knight, and the Czech's in the mail.)

Because that wouldn't get in the way of conversations at all ... /sarcasm
If someone is already dealing with the substance but you want to express support
or disagreement then the thumbs up/down serves just that purpose.
I am fully behind the idea however that the person receiving the thumbs up/down gets
to see who it is that is giving the support/disapproval.
I would also like the ability to cancel a thumbs up or down, because I have on occasion
accidentally clicked the thumbs up/down button without intending to do either, and then
been forced to choose to do one or the other instead of cancel the action.

Funny how all of these people who want the people who thumb down their posts to be 'outed' are the very same ones who claim that they don't care about 'thumbs'... apparently they do care enough to want dissenters silenced.
