Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual teacher. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realised soul can impart knowledge unto you because he has seen the truth.
Bhagavad Gita Chp4. verse34
Having obtained real knowledge fom a self-realized soul, you will never fall again into such illusion, for by this knowledge you will see that all living beings are part of the Supreme, or in other words that they are mine.
Bhagavad Gita Chp4. verse 35
Even if you are considered to be the most sinfull of sinners, when you are situated in the boat of transcendental knowledge you will be able to cross the ocean of miseries.
Bhagavad Gita Chp 4. verse 36
As a fire turns firewood to ashes, so does the fire of knowledge burn to ashes all reactions to material activities.
Bhagavad Gita chp4. verse 37
In this world, there is nothing so sublime and pure as transcendental knowledge. Such knowledge is the mature friut of mysticism. And anyone who has become accomplished in the practice of devotional service, enjoys this knowledge within himself in due course of time.
Bhagavad Gita Chp4. verse 38
A faithfull man who is dedicated to transcendental knowledge and who subdues his senses, is eligible to achieve such knowledge, and having achieved it he quickly attains the supreme spiritual peace.
Bhagavad Gita Cht4 verse 39
But ignorant and faithless persons who doubt the revealed scriptures (Vedanta) do not attain God consciouness: they fall down, For the douting soul there is happiness neither in this world or the next.

And after that you still pretend not being religious ?
And in what way are your "revealed scriptures" any better from other (similar?) ones (bible, quran, etc)
Originally posted by shorbockThe Bible is not the pure teacings of Jesus, because his words were doctored to suit the agenda of the ruling class at the time of compiling the Bible, the Bible does not even mention the eternal quality of the soul, but instead christians believe that the soul is created at birth, which is erroneous,, because the soul is eternal and never created.

As for the Koran, it is the ramblings of an egotistical self imposed meglamaniac.
As for religion verse spirituality, i am trying to present pure spirituality, without the shackles of erroneous religious beliefs being associated with it, because religion today is like a dirty word because of all the nonsense beliefs accepted as truth.
If anything, spirituality is the real religion, and if it is, then i am religious, but only in that context.

So you are saying that beside god which is eternal and never created there are a bunch of souls also eternal and never created? .... it's getting more and more complicated.
In this universe there are trillions and trillions of planets, and then there are trillions and trillions of universes.......and then there is the infinite spiritual realm with no end.
Not complicated!

Every theist claims that their religion is the real religion. Sadly, they never seem to have anything other than self confidence to back that up.
So there are so many bogus religions, but there is only one true/perfect religion.
The Vedanta teachings (spiritual teachings) or religious teachings if your stuck on that word.......have been with mankind since creation, but Islam/chistianity/ buddhism are recent creations from men.
You go off and read the entire Vedanta teachings and then compare with the religions of the world, and you will see there is no comparison.

So in your previous life, you might have been an amoeba in some other universe?

In the Vedanta teachings it says "unlimited" which is as good as infinite.
My error with the use of words.

Originally posted by Proper KnobFor what its worth, because I dont know what you will do with the answer, the Upanisads are spiritual discussions that took place (long time ago) between Sages to students, and Sages to Sages, and they were compiled along with all the other Vedic teachings by Srila Vyasadava, who is the literary incarnation of God, but he didnt put pen to paper, it was Ganesh who did the writing.
Who wrote the Upanishads then?

So say all religious people about their chosen manuscripts. But why should I go to the trouble of reading these manuscripts based on the advice of someone who is clearly ignorant of science, history, and other religions? Someone who lies at the drop of the hat and deliberately and maliciously spreads lies about other religions and about science.
