When atheists refer to your god as "it", the reason for this on my part is I see it as a formulation of some entity you've constructed in your own mind - it is an idea you've invented which at best (and I'm being overly generous here) could only approximate some "God" that actually exists.
I don't usually ascribe a gender to ideas...do you? π
