@divegeester saidShifting attention to me isn't going to work, either.
How then do you work out what you do and don’t believe in terms of faith Suzianne?
You already have plenty to answer for yourself.
Your questionable morals aren't my fault.
@pettytalk saidThe world of Paul's day is not the world of today, and Paul had precious little to say that helps us navigate this world. Peter's church needed a cheerleader, and Paul filled that role. He even appealed to the masses for doctrine, such as don't pay attention to those pesky women. He made Christianity popular, but that came with mollifying the masses. That's not what Jesus was about. He was about presenting the uncomfortable truth of God's ways vs. man's ways. Stuff a lot of people weren't ready to hear. Paul was just a self-appointed 'front man' who made Christianity, AKA Jesus' message, appear 'elite', out of the mainstream, and in so doing, created a new mainstream that it could inhabit. One based on fear and intimidation that unfortunately hit a popular chord with the public. One that eventually became the Roman Catholic Church.
A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum, and on the way to the church, through an untraveled road. Although this one will eventually lead to Rome also, like all roads.
I'm on the way to writing a book here, and the following are just reflections of my mind. Therefore be on the lookout, and don't let these thoughts of mine broadside you too....blind faith is the s ...[text shortened]... ht with their objections. Reminders are still active for those needing reminders on interpretations.
@pettytalk saidThe thing is, from the creation of all things God did it, and when it comes to His church He is also the founder of that, as well as directing the writing of scripture. God's words when questioned led to the mess we are in now, the fall of man, and people are still questioning His Word. When we replace the Word of God with the feelings of man we get a lot of confusion and power plays where people elevate one thing above another throwing the whole into confusion, God being sovereign makes His WORD above us. He had some chosen people whom he used through time to set up everything, when the Word of God became flesh He even had people He used to promote Him, including writing the NT. These were not self-appointed people for this task, Jesus chose them all including Paul.

@suzianne saidI’m responding to you shifting attention to me on the previous page. Why not just answer my question instead of being so furtive; it’s a really simple honest question based on your challenge to me, which I’ve responded to.

Suzianne… how have you decided what you do and don’t believe?
@divegeester saidAdmit it. You'd love it if more people believed what you believe. Even if you have to con them to do it.

Then your narcissism would seem justified (to you). I know someone else like that.

@suzianne saidTU from me, Suzi. Paul is constantly upbraiding the Greek churches for 'doing it wrong'. Yet every one of those churches must have been founded by one of the original apostles, so how is it that Paul thinks he is entitled to 'correct' what the original apostles taught? Reading between the lines, one sees in the writings attributed to Paul how fragmented and diverse early Christianity was, and that Paul had a political agenda to unify it under one authority at Rome.

@moonbus saidPaul also rebuked Peter to Peter's face when Peter was doing something wrong. You can only do something wrong if there is a right way to do a thing, and Paul's corrections were written down for all of the church to read throughout time, we make the same mistakes due to the same reasons the world, flesh, and the devil. Peter's writings warned of errors, and so did John, Jude, James, all of the gospel writers, and whoever wrote the book of Hebrews, as a people we tend to shift our focus from what matters to lesser things. Reducing scripture down to human reasonings alone is an error, and more than likely one of the most common, making it other than the Word of God.

@kellyjay saidHow would Paul know whether Peter was doing something inconsistent with Jesus's teachings? Paul never knew Jesus.

@moonbus saidThey met while Paul was on his way to persecute Christ’s church. In addition they both knew the scripture it was a clear transformation in Paul seeing the freedom in grace through the blood of Jesus. Ignoring God touching people just leaves it to natural inadequacies small wonder that you miss so much!
