Putting anything before the only true God is considered idolatry. It can be the love of money as well as the golden calf. God is jealous and does not allow any thing before Him. Making an idol out of Elvis Presley or The Beetles is the same as making your idol of wood and worshipping it as a god in place of the only true God that created the heavens and the earth.
