ASROMA....you make some good points regarding english/ italian players but i disagree with with on the following points...
How many final appearances in the CL by English teams since it's inception? Compare that to Italy.
WELL LIVERPOOL WITH 5 WINS and MAN U and FOREST TWO WINS EACH. THEN VILLA WITH ONE WIN thats 10 wins by english since 1978. Thats is excellant!
EPL is a distant third to 1) Spain 2) Italy, despite what your commentators tell you.
THERE IS NO WAY IS THE EPL 3RD BEHIND spain and ITalian leagues.. JUST NO WAY.... FRIEND..NEVER!

Typical stupid English mentality and moronic English supporter.
Does Italy have better players.
YES.
I'll prove it.
Buffon - Definitely the best goalkeeper in the world, and arguably the best goalkeeper ever VS Paul Robinson/Carson/James - None of those GK's are even in the top 20 in the world and not even the top 3 in the EPL. 2. Most exciting by what definition? If by 'exciting' you mean hard and unskilful then we are in agreement. Pass wide, put your head down, run down the line, cross into the box and hope your tall CF heads it in. Thrilling stuff really. If skill is not a factor in excitement, then I can say that my little cousin's Under 11 league is the most exciting.
3. ‘Great football but not exciting’. That's a contradiction I think. If great football is not exciting, then football does not excite you. It's something off the pitch, but not football itself.
4. I agree that supporters being away from the pitch is archaic, and there is talk to have the track removed from the Olimpico, and Juve's new stadium will not have a track.
5. Like I said, the prem is better marketed, but not better football. If everyone falls asleep watching, by your own admission, better football (or great football like real vs barce) in England, it speaks volumes. No wonder the NT is rubbish. English don't appreciate and hence don’t play good football. They play your version of exciting football, which involves losing to Russia and not qualifying for major tournaments.
6. The Italian league is corrupt. Agreed. But that does not detract from the fact that the FOOTBALL is better than Englands.

Italy 11 14
Spain 11 9
England 10 4
Since 1990
Italy 4 7
Spain 5 3
England 2 2
Statistics don't lie mate.
How do you feel the EPL is better than the Italian and Spanish?
Define 'better'.
You don't seem biased and pig headed, so I'm very interested in your opinion.

There was hadly any goal mouth action, it was just passing and passing between the midfield players.
thats just a simple way to put it, i know and i am sorry, but the excitment you get in a Prem league clash, no matter who is paying is unbeliveable.
Take this weekend, Chealsea .v. Villa.. 4-4 score line, 3 players sent off, penalties, goals from free-kicks..it had it all, and neither of them are the top two teams in the league!
I now that 4 teams are dominating the prem league for the last 15 years, but the league is still very competitive, any team can beat the others on any given weekend.
How about top of the table Liverpool just beating bottom of the table derby in the 90th min. The game was wide open till the final whistel
You just dont get that in the Italinan and Spainish leagues.
Originally posted by spurs73But when Italy won last year the quality of football was noticeably higher than that on offer from Lampard and co.

English LEAGUE football is tops for entertainment but staffed largely by foreign players and managers. The last English manager to win the league was Howard Wilkinson. We're not good enough, period. Add to this the fact that when England play they don't reflect the style of play on show in the Premiership, but rather a dull almost John Beck sort of hoofing the ball forward like Arsenal pre-Wenger.
And who is our top choice striker? A has-been Real Madrid reject who has barely played a full season in his career, a player who on his return to England could not find a place in any of the top six teams, currently none of the top 10.
Only a manager like Big C can make anything of this. Harry Redknapp or Big Sam would do well for England but we need to get real, not THAT well. If we want to win something we need to look outside again.
Capello is the best manager in the world bar none. Simply saying that the entertainment value of his product to date is limited does not negate the fact itself.

put it another way, a few years back "empire" magazine had a vote to see what was the greatest film ever, a lot of readers voted wordwide and eventually the winner was star wars...
the critics, filmwriters, directors in holywood and elsewhere dismissed this and said it lacked artful camera work, depth of character etc and said it could never be classed as the greatest and that accolade has to go to "citizen kane", though the majority of the public (the readers) disagreed with their comments; they said, "we are not interested in how a camera operates and how a director directs, the bottom line is star wars is exciting to watch..."
therefore, if you insist, the italian league can be citizen kane and the epl can be star wars.... i know what film i'd rather see
