Does it matter?

We invented football and we've won the World Cup (and women's world cups don't count!)

I thought it was interesting trivia.

Women's world cups don't count?

Sort of like a tree falling in a deserted woods?

If we're talking about the FIFA world cup, then no. If we're talking about world cups in general, then you need to include all sports and all genders where a world cup is contested.

'Cos it's 'tin pot' football, which no-one (apart from Americans) are bothered about.

Tell you what, let's include the FIFA Under 10's tournament as well shall we?

Are those world cups as well? If so then I don't see why they shouldn't be included.

Your sexist attitude disgusts me.

For the same reason RN didn't count the FIFA club world cup, or the Rugby World Cup.

Count 'em all, or don't pollute the forum with skewed stats.

Edit... as much as it pains me to resort to this, here's a comprehensive list of world cups for RN to begin collating a true league table against.

I agree! Count up all the soccer world cups and let's see who's on top. Thank goodness I don't care so much to do it myself. Maybe Red will help us out again?

Why limit it to Soccer? The thread title doesn't!

I applaud RN in advance of this huge undertaking.

We should start with soccer for interest's sake, then expand to all other forms of international competition bearing the name World Cup.

Thanks again, Red!

I don't disagree with this statement. I left out the U-20 because it is played every other year and I was concerned it would skew the numbers. Argentina has won a bunch.

I disagree with rhb and those who think we should include other sports as well. I'm not really interested in every event that calls itself the World Cup, only soccer World Cups at this point.
