You all seem to be laboring under the delusion that if Major League Baseball spreads around the world that these new teams will be "national" teams. Like Team Cuba, or Team Japan. That's simply not the way it will be. If Tokyo were to be granted a MLB franchise, they would have the same access to the worldwide talent pool that any other team does. It's conceivable that Tokyo would have a team without any Japanese players on it at all. They probably would have a few home town favorites, but the rest of the team would consist of players from the US, Central America, and where ever else the available talent comes from. Look at the Toronto Blue Jays. I think they have one Canadian on the team. Matt Stairs. The rest are from around the world.
So the World Series deserves its name, not because there are teams from around the world, but because there are players from around the world.
