BAHAHAHAHAHA!

The blind Venician. lol.

I do remember him making one unbelievable save in the same game as that horrible mistake, but I think it was more of a fluke than a good save, so I don't really give him credit for it.

Taibi is a great saver but never succeeded to be a top goalkeeper IMHO.

..and thats just it. Goalkeeping is a very specialst position, as one mistake can lead to disaster for the team

As someone who plays in goal.. i know that people dont seem to remember all the saves a keeper makes during the game, but rather the one mistake which leads to a goal.

Outfield playes make mistake after mistake, but there is usualy someone to back them up...

Yeah, I forgot Kahn.

I don't care so much for Peruzzi.

Ah, but that's the life of the goal keeper. It's such a cruel position.

I was 17 at the time and I was in awe of Kahn's ability. I'd never seen keeping like it (and haven't since). He was unreal. He conceded only one goal (1-1 draw with Ireland and it only just crossed the line) until the final.

And then, what a cruel way to finish the biggest tournament of his career. It was heartbreaking.

Definitely one of the best keepers ever.

he can be a great keeper....would never deny that, but having been to Germany and seen him play many times, I can honestly say he isn't in the top 4 or 5 keepers I've seen play live......let alone all the great keepers I've never had the pleasure of seeing....

We all have our opinions....

Totally agree about keeping in general - you can name games where all the best have had nightmares, that's the life of a keeper

Well having looked through this thread I very surprised not to see Paul Cooper's name - amazing penalty saver for the Tractor Boys in the early eighties.
