A couple of thoughts.
First, I like the USA draw, but not for the reason you might expect. The US is never going to win this World Cup. Not a chance in hell. And a friend of mine was selected as a referee for this World Cup. He's already done a World Cup final: the U-20 World Cup in 2011. So if the US advances, no matter how well he does, he goes home. Klinsmann abandoned this tournament, so why can't I?
Next, we all know the historical facts. Prior to the last two World Cups, no team has won the tournament outside its home continent. That must favor Chile (but not much), and the traditional two powers in South America. Germany lost their best player yesterday, so they need to figure out how to play again. Italy didn't bring Rossi, Spain lost Costa, and I think that in this World Cup in particular, because of the social issues surrounding the Cup, there will just be a malaise around the Brazilians. If Messi doesn't find his form quickly, and there was an excellent piece about him in the NYT that explained Argentina's long-distance relationship with their biggest star, then Argentina will be out.
That leaves Uruguay. Semifinalists in 2010. With Suarez in form, there's no reason to believe they can't finish the job this time round.
Uruguay will hoist the trophy on July 13. And an American very well may, for the first time, referee the final.

How did you guys even qualify? if you could qualify, why not us!!
But considering nearly all the Aussie team play abroad in world class comps including the Italian and EPL, the Aussies would have had a lot of experience playing against these other giants of football.
(I didn't catch what country you were from), but our Asian qualifying route is easier than going through Europe or South America ..
edit: oh Canada...lol. How is football in Canada?

chile are tactically unique and may cause everybody a few problems. they would be my outside bet.
but, its going to be spain that win. tika-taka is perfect for the heat and tournament play. spain followed by brazil to win.
