Al Khatib Ahmad, or Ahmad Al Khatib, (born March 30, 1980) is a Palestinian-Jordanian chess Grandmaster. He received his Grandmaster title in 2011 from FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Échecs) and is recognized as Jordan's first chess Grandmaster. Al Khatib was born and raised in Kuwait but later settled in Jordan.
Al Khatib began his chess career by participating in numerous international tournaments. Some of his achievements included winning the Arab Under-18 Championship twice, the Arab Championship (where he secured first place in 1997 and 1999), and the Bronze Medal for board one in the men's division of the 2007 Asian Indoor Games.
His most significant career highlights included becoming the Arab Individual Chess Champion (2011) and winning the Arab Chess Cup (2012). Participating in five Chess Olympiads, Al Khatib has competed against world-class opponents such as Viswanathan Anand and Alexander Khalifman.
In addition to being a player, Al Khatib served in several administrative positions in chess. He was president of Arab Chess Federation for three years and continued to be involved in promoting and developing chess in the Arab world.
