@lemondrop saidActually, you may have some explaining to do about throwing points lemon.
it's good to know that the clan fink is on the job
we should have a lot to talk about in our next clan meeting
maybe I'll expose myself to you
You keep changing your Clan Name so it doesn't get noticed but I picked up on it when you tried to keep the conversation going in here about being in our clan which I know is a lie.
The thing is how many have your thrown? It may or may not be enough to even make a difference, I don't know that part yet! 😉

@lemondrop saidI am busy checking out your clan games if I can find all your clan names lemon,.....That is my mission right now! 😉
I think we can play a little game
I'll give you a series of clues as to my identity
I don't know how often I'll drop one but here is the first
I'm not you
I know you aren't in our clan for sure!

@venda
I agree, and would like to add that recent history will give a good prediction ... The DP, Metals and Bads have 'been there, done that' so I think its safe to assume they will all be in the top 4.
The only other clan that has a lot of players and can play a lot of games is IVV, but it remains to be seen whether we can sustain our levels to-date for a whole year!
So I predict that will be the top 4. I suspect Al's Wanderers don't have enough players, and while there are some good new clans, like the Rainbows, and strong existing clans like the Laikers, again I suspect they might not have the capacity ...
I appreciate that the net scoring gives a more qualitative assessment of performance than gross (quantitative), but volume of players and games played is still the main influencing factor.
Its a shame there isn't a league anymore (I assume there wasn't any interest), but if there was, I suspect none of the top 4 net would be in the top 4 league!
The good thing is that there is a possibility this year could be a bit more competitive, and sooner or later @mghrn55 will get his clan in gear and close the gap 🙂
@Maxtheminnow yep count us out, we will be top 10 at best unless i get a new leader who can put more time and effort into it than me
@maxtheminnow saidI think @Maxtheminnow has it right in many ways.

One of the interesting and positive aspects of the clan feature is there is room for everyone. The rainbows will never challenge for the top four - this year or any other year - because we are not trying to - that is not a goal.
We try to create challenges with new unique matches - matches we have not had in previous challenges, and with games that will require our best efforts. Clan leaders can testify that we often send over challenges where we would clearly seem to be at a disadvantage. We use the allowed 200 point difference to play better players. Our 1800s play your 1900s and our 1300s play your 1400s.
Because that is how 1800s become 1900s. It is difficult to improve without a step-up in quality of opponent.
For some clans winning is not as important as playing.
Watch the next half-marathon that is held in your town and see all the runners in the middle and the back talking to their friends and family as they run and smiling. They will never ever win a race or even finish in the top 100. But they train and train and run in the cold and rain and on treadmills and on race day they put on their number and get out there and they run. And it is kind of glorious crossing that finish line, even an hour behind the leaders.
Like I say, there is room for everyone.
@they saidAn interesting perspective and one I'm sure not many(including me) have ever considered in clan play although we've all heard the saying "It's not about winning,it's the taking part that counts"

I agree playing the same players over and over can become wearisome to some extent.
That's one of the downsides of club tournaments.
When I was a clan leader I would seize on any new clan I saw in the list for the same reasons as you mention.
@venda saidAnd to be clear, for some it is about the winning and I think that is awesome. I love winning. Spurs in Europe in a few hours - my entire day will turn if they don't show up. To Dare is to Do.

But this clan - at this time - we are using the feature to try to improve.
I sincerely appreciate the success we've had as a clan since 2008. Everyone loves to win, and wants to finish 1rst. I believe good points have been made here it is playing the game that is important and improving as you go forward as a Clan.
When I first started in 2008 I was new to clan play and was on a few other clans can't even remember their names anymore, but it wasn't for long. I found for me personally I had to decide which Clan I wanted to be loyal to, and became Clan Metallica. I made the decision in a few months and never regret it. I've had other Clans over the years approach me and ask me to play in their clan mainly for the amount of games I play in my opinion. One thing they respected is the fact that I was loyal to just one Clan.
I in no way look down on others who are on more than one clan as I am sure they are loyal to each clan. I just can't seem to be the type of person who can do that and feel good about it.
I am happy to see other Clans doing much better this year, as I know the hard work that is put into it. It is a long year and the thing is to be able to keep the pace up for the whole year. We aren't even 3 months in and people are predicting who is going to finish where. I do agree with the ones that will be in the top 10 as someone mentioned. It is just the order they will finish in.
I've seen a lot of ups and downs over the years. People get sick, have personal issues, we have even seen death and we lost a very important member of our Clan some years back. We have had some really good dedicated players have to leave for one reason or other, some of who I had become good chess buddies with. That is my reason for saying it is too early yet to call anything. So much can happen in the course of a year.
