Mingus - Tensions

Gotta say, the sound and timbre of an acoustic bass far surpasses that of the electric. And what a brilliant arranger Mingus was.

Keith Jarrett Trio with Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette.

I was aghast to find that I'd ripped all their CDs to 128 kbps back when storage space was an issue. I have spent the week re-encoding one by one at 320 kbps and their superb music has been filling my home office and house for days.

I've long had an aversion to bass guitar for that reason. Put a double bass in the hands of a master and magic can happen.

Replacing Rowe's guitar and electronics with Iwamoto's shakuhachi changes the overall soundscape more than one might think.
