Take five, Brubeck. His brother Howard was my piano teacher at Palomar College in San Marcos, California. Howard died in 1993 and they built the Howard Brubeck auditorium in his honor. He left several thousand works, a lot of them played by Dave. I met Dave once at Palomar. I was also in love with Howard's daughter, Ginger. We had classes together. I tried lately to find her and just say hi, remember that tall lanky kid in Badminton? No luck.
