A new poll by CNN and ORC International finds that 27 percent of Democrats would like to see their party nominate a candidate other than Barack Obama for president in 2012.
So who would the democratic party want to see run in a primary against Obama?
Originally posted by whodeyIt wouldn't do any good. Neither Castro (who is in the end phase of his life) or Chavez are American citizens. And they were both born outside the U.S. Meanwhile, Ralph Nader can't possibly win the Democratic nomination, let alone a general election.
Are they required to produce a birth certificate?

Originally posted by Metal BrainI voted for Nader twice in protest of Democrats who had sunk the New Deal, but I wouldn't vote for him if I really thought he could win. His politics are great, and he makes an excellent consumer advocate. But I don't think he could run a national government. He should stick to what he does best.

He's actually backtracked from that debate appearance a little bit. Not much, but a little bit. I agree, though, that it was a pretty appalling glimpse into the reality of litmi tests present in the one-and-only GOP.

so who would you run against O if there were a primary, seriously....
Hillary Clinton, she could pull it off...
any takers?
Bernie Sanders, but he can't win. Then again, nobody can win.
Russ Feingold might be good. Or the NY Attorney General who is bucking him when it comes to prosecuting bank fraud.

I really don't see why people get their knickers in a twist over Obama. I mean, for God's sake, you've had Bush, Bush sr., Kissinger (not officially the boss, but hey...) and Ronald bloody Raygun...
How bad can Obama really be?
Originally posted by FMFNo it wouldn't. Nader's policies are very democrat friendly and he would fit right in.
Because it would be like sitting the general election out.
It was his 3rd party status that doomed him in the past. If he were to do in the democrat party what Ron Paul is doing in the republican party he would probably win the nomination. He would represent "real change". BTW, that is the perfect campaign slogan to beat Obama easily. Barry wouldn't stand a chance against Nader.
