Republicans had control of both congressional houses for years before that as well. In fact, since 1995, voters gave the GOP control of the House of Representatives for 20 of the 28 years.
Over the same time, the GOP has also had more years in control of the Senate and the Executive Branch. Still, all they do is complain about the Democrats destroying everything.
