Perhaps because people call them trannies?

Anyhoo. The next best option is to call everyone “she”.
With only people who identify as “male” being called “he”.

So, she becomes the generic term for everyone who’s not a he.
Then you will have to find out what people "identify as" which most people have zero interest in

Demi Lovato Returns to ‘She/Her’ Pronouns, in Addition to ‘They/Them’
[i]Demi Lovato has provided some context as to why she’s decided to update her pronouns to now include she/her in addition to they/them.

Is misgendering a violation of human rights?
Misgendering Is a Human Rights Violation, Canadian Court Rules | them. A human rights tribunal ruled that pronouns are “a fundamental part of a person’s identity.” Deliberate misgendering in the workplace is a human rights violation, according to a ruling from a Canadian court.

Not a problem. Everyone’s a she until they say otherwise.

However, to be perfectly honest, I couldn’t care less. If someone thinks I’m a woman… so fukking what?
And that same level of empathy I share with everyone else on this matter.

I guess the word "deliberate" escaped you.

Deliberate misgendering would be akin to harassment, which people are already protected from in the workplace.

It is clown world for sure.

Your brain is broken if you think that you can defy your biological gender... But it is doubly broken if you think it is smart to restructure human language to now accommodate a "third" gender when no such thing exists outside of sophistry.

Earlier today I was reading an article about Ezra Miller which made it clear that calling someone "they" can be grammatically and referentially confusing in some contexts, inasmuch as the person referred to is singular rather than plural, grammatically speaking.

(No, Walt Whitman, no, just no. Please stay out of this.)

So, what could we propose as an alternative for American English? Do the people of the Anglophonic Dominion have any suggestions?
Since the term him or her offends them so much, I would suggest "it".
The plural they and them when referring to a single person isn't just confusing, it's a retarded thing to do, yet mainstream media is doing it more and more often.
Future generations will laugh at the craziness.

No, because they insist everyone else make a point of calling them by their preferred trans identity. I see "T-girls" advertising as prostitutes or looking for men on Tinder all the time - the T stands for Trans.

You call a male to female transsexual - even a pre-op one! - "he" and she'll be all up in your face screeching about pronouns. Nothing to do with the wor ...[text shortened]... ny percentage of weirdos to make demands and why we care about what they will tolerate is beyond me)
People have the right to make demands, but not the right to have all of their demands met.

In your life, do people acknowledge you in the way you want to be acknowledged?

If someone behaves disrespectfully toward you, what do you do?

I find "they" to be confusing, it's been exclusively plural since before all of us were born and I don't think we need to exhume the singular version.
Gender, as distinct from the actual physical/genetic stuff, is a language construct. What useful purpose do multiple genders serve? Ask anyone who tries to study almost any language. Do we need to know if a table is la or le ...[text shortened]... ome up with an opposing argument, but the "humans as an exclusive special group" one doesn't cut it.
I think something other than "it" would be better when referring to a human.

Maybe tey/tem/teir ?

Seriously, you didn't start laughing inside when you saw "The Thing" I suggested as a name for one of these creatures that claim to be neither male or female?
OK if the thing isn't IK, how about "the creature"?
