Totally agree. But dont forget there were no defense witnesses allowed while this was being heard in Congress. Hardly a fair proceding in itself.
To be fair, the Dems tried to have an open hearing a while back.
Lewandowski if you recall. We all know what happened there.
He turned it into a farce.
That’s politics !!
And it would happen if the GOP were trying to impeach a democratic president.
The Dems would probably do the same thing.

Impeachment is mostly political theatre.
And it will happen in the house. Won’t go through the senate.
But it is designed to create political capital.
It will become an election issue, a big one !!
And it will get under Trump’s thin skin.

2020 will be all about character, or lack of one, required to hold office.

Funny, I THOUGHT we were talking about impeachment of TRUMP not 'whatabout himisms'. But that is your MO, obfuscate, distract, lie. Your MO for sure. You don't know what it is to speak fairly about ANYTHING. You have the credibility of a tree frog.

Ummm...this is not a legal trial...it is a political trial. How soon you forget the schitt/nodler fiasco.
Impeachment is purely political.

The legal stuff is out there, waiting to be unwrapped.
Eg, Trump’s tax returns.
He may not be in collusion with the Russians.
But the word is in the air - compromat !!

To be fair, given the rampant abuse of office and criminal activity of Donald Trump, it would likely result in unanimous backing for his removal from his own party if something similar happened in any working political system around the globe.
Just as the Germans were able to remove Hitler right? And that's just the top of the list.

There are many things wrong with the US system, but what's happening here is similar to what would happen if the opposition filed a motion of no confidence in most working political systems.
That is actually a very interesting take on the matter!

Thank you sir.

Clearly the system that the Weimar Republic had wasn't "working" very well. Fortunately they replaced it (with the help of the Americans) with a system that, ironically, is now overwhelmingly superior to the American one, and there's not a snowball's chance in hell that Merkel would politically survive her personal lawyer getting sentenced to jail for crimes committed on her behalf (and that's just one item on a very, very long list).

Mitch McConnell and Lindsay Graham; both US republican senators, have appeared on TV declaring that they are going to do everything to stop impeachment of the US president.
Lindsay doesn’t want any witnesses called, just to get it over as fast as possible for the American people.
Mitch has said that he’ll toe the white house line on the matter.

Now, these senators are ...[text shortened]... happening?
Why isn’t anybody pulling them up on this?

I think the US system is complete madness.
When asked about senators making up their minds before the trial, Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg said: "Well if a judge said that, a judge would be disqualified from sitting on the case."

I think no one denies that he shouldnot have said that. He was just emoting, but thats no excuse. When Hillary emoted about putting coal minesout of business, that may have been a little much as well she prob shouldnt’a said that!
