4.1 people per household (NOT per person) sounds about right.

Every Swiss male age 21 and over is required to go through military basic training and have a govt issued handgun or rifle that they keep at home in case they are called to duty.
They can whimp out and be cry babies if they want to, but most households have a firearm of some sort.

That's a little more than 4.1 people per gun. Now you are saying that only 28%
of households have a gun! that does not jive at all.
It sounds like almost all households would have a gun, unless Switzerland has
many one person households. It doesn't add up.
Households would be expected (my opinion) to have about 4 people each.
So almost all households have a gun. What's wrong? I'll let you figure out but
again, you just love playing the artful dodger, don't you.
@earl-of-trumps saidHas it ever occurred to you that some of the households that have guns might have more than one?

For @No1Marauder:
You say Switzerland has 8 million guns for 2.1 million people, or 26.3%
https://news.gallup.com/poll/264932/percentage-americans-own-guns.aspx
Thirty percent of U.S. adults say they personally own a gun,
26.3% to 30%.
splitting hairs, No1.

Yeah, about 30% or so of persons in the US say they have a gun, which figures out to about 43% of households according to Gallup.
But the US has a lot of households with people who own multiple guns:
"The average American gun owner owns three guns, according to a 2015 survey conducted by Harvard and Northwestern University. More than a half of them own just one or two, whereas 14% of them–7.7 million or 3% of the US population–own anywhere between eight to 140 guns. This 3% of the population owns half of the civilian guns in the US."

Are you going to be the first right winger on this board to say "I was wrong"?
@cheesemaster saidSouthern girls?
Southern girls
Machine guns
History
World influence
Almost every state has a different topography (right word?)
Many different land types to enjoy.
Did I mention southern girls?
Canada is boring AF.
Why are they greater than the Scandanavian bathing suit team? Or a French woman in a cafe smoking a cigarette with her legs crossed as she sips a Bordeaux whilst gazing out over Montmarte?
Machine guns?
I’m pretty sure the best machine guns aren’t American made.
History?
The US’s history is 300 years old (give or take) and includes showing up late for 2 world wars, the ethnic cleansing of the indigenous peoples and losing wars all over the place.
I’m pretty sure Greece, Turkey, Italy, France, Britain, etc. Have greater histories than the US.
World influence.
Once. Not anymore. The US has become a laughing stock. But, I agree to a certain point that for many years in the 20th and 21st centuries the US was very influential.
Almost every state has a different topography.
I have no idea what you’re on about.
The US is not and never has been the greatest nation on Earth.
The whole concept of that sentiment is nationalistic rubbish.
Flag waving, hand on heart, anthem singing chest beating moronity.
Every nation that’s ever thought it was the greatest and had their people believing it was putrid and it always ends badly.

I know at one time, it was law that each household had to have a gun but that changed.

@earl-of-trumps saidI don’t recall that ever being a Swiss law.
I don't believe I said "every".

I’m sure soldiers were allowed to keep their guns at their homes. After serving? Don’t know.
And I’m also pretty certain Swiss law has banned various individuals and households from owning weapons.
