Apparently Anthony Weiner was scolded by a retired school teacher in New York as she stated that if she had conducted herself in similar fashion, she would have lost her job, so why is he still running for mayor?
Where does she get off? I mean, don't shove your morality down our throats. Notice how old she is. She probably even goes to church and actually thinks that there is still right and wrong.
I predict that in 30 years, dinosaurs like her will be a thing of the past and soon we will all be able to flash our private parts all over the internet with impunity.
Originally posted by EladarExactly. We need more of our leaders to flash their private parts to the world. Stop the morality crap about sex. So instead of chastising Clinton for what he did, why not film it and sell tickets to the public when he does it?
I don't know why people think that certain forms of sexual conduct is good while others are bad. What two consenting adults choose to do in their private lives is their business, not ours.
Originally posted by whodeyNo, we need to quit criminalizing private communications. We need to be consistent in our application of immorality.

Our country is run by (and made up of) hypocrites.
Originally posted by EladarTo be clear, the only immorality is not paying your fair share in taxes, not recycling, driving SUV's, drinking biggie sodas, polygamy, smoking (other than pot), using a fire arm to protect yourself, not buying health insurance, and being affiliated with the Tea Party.

All other morality is Judeo Christian garbage that the Christian right keeps trying to shove down our throats.
Originally posted by whodeyThe concept of a "Judeo-Christian" culture is quite amusing. Christians persecute jews for more than 1500 years, WW2 happens, and then out of thin air a "Judeo-Christian culture" appears!

Originally posted by KazetNagorraNo doubt, a progressive like Anthony Weiner would have seen through such hypocrisy. He is showing us the way to a brighter progressive future where men and women can have sex freely with anyone anytime anywhere so long as they obtain consent.

Why then are progressives turning on Anthony? Would you compare them to the anti-Semite Christians of old?
Originally posted by whodeyThey are turning on him because there are certain forms of sexual conduct between consenting adults that are still considered immoral. Why? Who knows.

We just have to accept that there is a certain amount of hycrisy out there and forget about ideals. Liberals are such hypocrites.
I don't think if W was single, anyone would give a rat's behind what he took pictures of and what consenting adult he sent them to. What he did opened up a number of debates, beginning with a question of what is considered sexual conduct. If he took pictures or videos and posted them on the internet, it would just mean he's a show-off. Face it: Most politicians are. I'm not sure many people would care, or at least not nearly as many. But marriage vows are basically vows of loyalty and monogamy. If he is sending someone who's not his wife photos of his privates, does that violate those vows? If so, then that's where people care: If he's so clearly unwilling to do what's best for his marriage in keeping with his vows (as viewed from the outside -- maybe it really was more helpful than harmful within their own marriage paradigm), then why should voters believe he'll do what's best for the city or whatever other political position he holds.
There's also that other crucial factor at play here: He's engaging in a behavior that has a limited number of participants, and thus is easy to judge. The number of married men photographing their bits and texting them out is a small number compared to the overall population. It makes it easier to point a finger.

All marriage vows are? You have swingers. You have open relationships. You have spouses who don't care if their wife/husband flirts and/or gets frisky on the internet.
Originally posted by whodeyAdult men and women in the US can already (legally) have sex with each other anytime anywhere (in a private location) as long as they obtain consent, so I'm not sure where you're going with this, or what it has to do with the Weiner "controversy" or anything really.

This has nothing to do with antisemitism, "Judeo-Christian" values, "progressives" or anything of the sort, this is a story about some idiot politician who doesn't understand how the Internet works.
