All marriage vows are? You have swingers. You have open relationships. You have spouses who don't care if their wife/husband flirts and/or gets frisky on the internet.

If he became Mayor it would just be one scandal after another.
Adult men and women in the US can already (legally) have sex with each other anytime anywhere (in a private location) as long as they obtain consent, so I'm not sure where you're going with this, or what it has to do with the Weiner "controversy" or anything really.
This has nothing to do with antisemitism, "Judeo-Christian" values, "progressives" or ...[text shortened]... s is a story about some idiot politician who doesn't understand how the Internet works.

Put the "private life" part aside for a second so you can see my point. In his public life he gave a press conference and lied to the public. Now he's asking the public to trust him to be Mayor.
If I were in New York I wouldn't want a pathetic brazen liar as my Mayor. Also his apparent sexting addiction could continue to be a liability were he to gain office, possibly involving him in scandals and lawsuits that would distract him from doing the job he was hired to do.

Since we are supposed to believe that what goes on between consenting adults is none of our business, that is how we should view this.
The problem is, our society, like you, is very hypocritical.

I've said the public should judge him for being a liar. He's lied to the public and presumably his wife. I have specifically not said that sexting is "wrong." So where is the hypocrisy?
Originally posted by SleepyguyYou're being a hypocrite for saying that in one area something is immoral, while in another area it is not. If it is immoral and should not be done, then you must have some other standard than simply consenting adults.

If you try to apply that other standard when you've accepted the consenting adult standard, then you are being a hypocrite.
If you are trying to say that he is in trouble for being a liar and not for sexting, then you have your eyes closed.

What "area?" What "other area?"
He. Lied.
If Wiener had just come right out and said he was a big-time sexter, that all his sexting partners were adults, that his wife knew about it, that his private life is no one's business, and his sexting habits would not effect how he did his job, then the left would probably have rallied around him, and I wouldn't have had anything to say about it because it wouldn't be any of my business.
