I know there's a street in Glasgow (or Edinburgh... or somewhere up there amongst the heathens and drug abusing criminals) where you have detached houses on one side of the road (expensive) and normal housing (rented and cheap) on the other side.
And that there's a 15 (or maybe it was 20) year difference in life expectancy.
So, as you can plainly s ...[text shortened]... d can't really state "I know" in all honesty. \
But it's there.
It's there I tells ya!
We have areas like Bearsden on the outskirsts of Glasgow, where the life expentancy is 15 or 20 years more than the adjoining areas (say, Temple) within Glasgow, and they're separated by nothing more than a railway line.
There are streets in Drumchapel with large detached houses alongside small, modern tenements.
I'm sure there will be streets like Shav describes in Glasgow, and no doubt in Embra too. (they copy everything we do in Glasgow, even down to the poverty).
I don't blame the government.... I blame the people... It'd be refreshing if for once the government said...
"Look you guys are morons... eat healthier, stop smoking and drinking so much, and stop letting your kids run amok on the roads. You'll live longer"
It's also down to stupidity and class culture, some of it actually perpetuated by the working class who are proud to be seen as such. Class warfare isn't caused by the rich, it's caused by the ignorant.
Teach your kids healthy living... It's not poncy... It's not posh...It's still a damn sight cheaper to cook vegetables than buy fish and chips.
