@shavixmir saidThere are prettier bits of the black forest than Pforzheim. I recommend Freudenstadt instead.
Yeah, Pforzheim’s not much. My friend lives in a small village close by. From her parents house you look down at the beginning of the forest.
And the drives and towns in the whole black forest region are brilliant.
London, great city. And yes, we can get along.
Street map looks like a plate of spaghetti.
Montreal, in my younger years, a great place to misbehave.
Amazing smoked meat sandwiches.
Geneva/Zurich - the train ride between the 2 cities was a treat in itself.
Great thread, btw ......
I am planning a trip up to Edinburgh in next couple of weeks.
Nice to see it mentioned here. I need to update my bucket list.
For me, and i may not have travelled as much as some...
1) Prague - One of the few places i return to a lot. If you do your research, and dodge the tourist traps it's a lovely chill place to go
2) Florence - Went to Pisa, Florence, and Rome...found Florence to be the perfect place, like Goldilocks and the three cities...and the steak Florentine.
3) Toughy, but for me. Amsterdam. Did get my card skimmed in an Argentinian BBQ place, but another chill place i found as long as you can dodge the bikes.
I would've picked Hong Kong, but recent events mean i'm not sure if it is the same place as it used to be.
@shavixmir saidFor the sake of nothing in particular, I'm going to add three that I've visited just as a tourist.
Bologna. Wow.
That statue of the woman with water jettisoning from her breasts… that was weird…
And, it is so far as I know, the only city with a painting in it with the image of Mohamed on it (being fed to the devil no less).
I was there the Summer before Corona struck. Gorgeous!
And like most Italian cities, great bloody food.
Lisbon: Most stunning city in Europe - historic, beautiful, amazing location.
Split: History of Europe in one city.
Lviv: As pretty as Prague or Krakow, but with very few tourists.
3. Honolulu—because when you go there, you are in The Islands
2. Malaga, Spain—History, proximity to both mountains and Med Sea
1. Jerusalem—there just are no words to describe the experience
I’ve been all over America, up into Canada and Nova Scotia. I’ve traveled Mexico. Most of my travels have been via motorcycle. There are some amazingly good people everywhere.
@sonhouse saidMy wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary and re-committed our vows on the 12th floor of the King Solomon hotel in 2009.
@Liljo
When were you in Jerusalem? We lived there 4 years, I worked as a contractor in Intel there and we did folk music on the side, we fit well into the anglo folk community there.
Absolutely the most amazing place I have ever been. Toured from Kefer Galadi in the far north all the way down to the Negev, but absolutely loved our time in Jerusalem. We were only there 13 days.
The only downside to going to Israel, particularly Jerusalem, is that no matter where you are in the world afterwards, you'll always be "homesick."
@liljo saidThought you would say Oklahoma City, LILY
