Like I said, you cannot make the mental leap about the danger of the continued use of fossil fuels just for transport.
That will end in a few decades when better sources of energy come on line like really efficient and cheap solar cells, now there are FIFTEEN MEGAWATT individual wind towers where the old ones could only pump out ONE meg.
And fusion power WILL come on line in the next 20 or 30 years making an endless source of energy without the complications of fission fuel.
We will have outgrown the need to use fossil fuel for transportation.
But you LITERALLY cannot wrap your head around that certain future.
It is either that or goodbye Miami and all the other coastal cities.
If the Greenland icecap melts that is EXACTLY what will happen and you can hide your head in the sand or up your ass, it makes no difference what you think.
It is inevitable, the future is being written as we speak and there will be ZERO need for some stupid pipeline JUST LIKE the ZERO need for the stupid WALL Trump said Mexico will pay for. What a flocking JOKE that turned out to be.
And he still claimed hundreds of miles of "New" wall when what in fact is going on is rebuilding existing walls but that is ALSO fake news for you and your crew.
@sonhouse saidYou should check with kewpie, on the Biden China thread, where she takes me to task about where we get our news, for some advice. There are many sources that say the four hundred mile wall is new. Your sources say it is rebuilt. What are we all going to do

@wildgrass saidDespite occasional leaks pipelines are still the safest and most cost effective way to transport oil. Environmentalists are misguided in this case. They support reducing supply without reducing demand which will never accomplish their goal of less burning of fossil fuels.
I didn't see that. Was that projected future hiring or existing jobs? What seemed more accurate was the ~1,000 temporary construction jobs. Temp jobs are still jobs, but they are temporary meaning they'll need another job next year anyway and that fact gets lost in the shuffle here. Only a few dozen jobs will be permanent. Compared to the overall number of unemployed Americans (>10 million) it seems like a lot of time is wasted on this drop in the bucket.
This is just a scam to increase the price of fuel at your expense. Only a fool would oppose a pipeline. It is better for the environment.
@averagejoe1 saidI think the concerns are about leaks in the pipeline, many jobs will be lost in both Canada and the U.S.A., as you said they will just use trucks to transport instead.
Figured it was a great idea, to close, send ‘em all packin’. Overload the solar world, watch wages drop.
Here is a question I have here for all of you. The pipeline is very clean and efficient in the way of environmental concerns. I guess they will find a way to get the oil on the back of trucks. I will be sure to keep my family from following one of those trucks
It is a big issue at this time! They have been arguing about this pipeline since back when Obama was President.

@metal-brain saidlol, increase the price? Don't be silly. The free market price is a lot higher than where it sits now. $600 billion in Federally-directed subsidies to fossil fuel is what keeps the prices artificially low. Good for the economy, bad for taxpayers.

@sonhouse saidPeople ignore all the time here. Nothing new. No one ever says, you got a point, or touche’. It would be more tenuous if you would do that.
@AverageJoe1
Thus ignoring what I wrote about the future of fossil fuel.
e.g my observation that Biden was wrong to say China will eat our lunch. My logic was ignored, when I’d made a clear correct analysis.

Subsidies encourage competition from smaller oil drillers. Get rid of those subsidies and you have less competition and higher prices from only the big oil companies.
@averagejoe1 saidThis is why the Republican Party is morally bankrupt.
I hate it about the ancestral grounds, etc. You know, if there are 21 in a 20 person lifeboat,,we would necessarily draw straws, to have to let one adrift, or, we will all sink. So where you gonna run the line. If you take your point to its logical conclusion, the Indians were here first, and we should not touch their stuff. @kquinn909 saidGood Quinn. I love the Fool! These guys are really good stock pickers, FVRR was up 20 just yesterday. And good points in the article.

No one is a genius in this area, I don't know much about oil or pipes, for that matter. Good that all investors keep their eye on the sparrow, do research,,I am already looking for any changes to make if they, whoever 'they' are, stop using pipes to transport oil. Fun stuff. All I really care about is the jobs lost, I dont care how the oil gets to Wildgrass's car. Just as long as he can get to HIS fine established job.
Funny to think about all the 'movements' for our liberal friends to spend their lives on, while we live happy ones, watching them on the news!
I am not in a movement, nor have I ever been in a street! Neither was my dad or granddad. What in the hell is going on?
@AverageJoe1
May I opine.....In the end it is about jobs. The most common denominator is an ant hill. They ALL work. If they don't all do their jobs, the hill will become dust.
Thankyou for your attention. (They don't surfboard...they work....makes the hill a better place).
@metal-brain saidNo they are there at the behest of big oil companies in order to suppress the introduction and development of green energy options at the expense of the tax payer and the planet. It’s a scam with the compliant political parties getting kick backs. Grow up son.

@kevcvs57 saidYou may be absolutely correct, life aint perfect,, what with greed, special interests, needing to go places, etc... So what is the answer ? AOC says do away with oil, I think . Months ago, said do away with airtravel. How bout keep burning oil, and work instead of genius way to trap all the carbon which comes from it?
